At this hour of coronavirus outbreak in the whole world, there is serious danger to life. In India, people who are hit tremendously are those who live in slums, transgender community, household lady worker & those people who live by begging or are destitute. These people compose a high percentage of population and are scattered in all over. As per Government advisory, people are advised to stay indoors. But majority of these people do not have a house to take shelter. Secondly they lack money and other resources to buy food or other essential items. Thirdly, they lack awareness on what is coronavirus and how to protect oneself from it? Understanding the high proximity of this virus to spread like a wild fire there is a need to do awareness building.
The foremost need for survival is food and our target group is facing difficulty in getting to eat healthy food on a daily basis. To tackle this issue, a “SAANJHA CHULHA”  is established and run from shelter home established at Mill road, Aishbagh, Lucknow.   It is serving healthy, hygienically prepared, fresh food to 50 people on a daily basis. It serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and two times tea. We are also providing food packets to 500 people who were involved in begging and are destitute at Jhule Lal Bagiya on banks of Gomti River.
In another endeavour, families are visited in those areas which consist of daily wage people, transgender, household working women and beggar community. These families are given essential kits named “KHUSHI” kits that contain all essential items required to make food and are required for hygiene and dignity for a person. They are also encouraged to adopt those practices. To make the project more impactful it is important to break myths related to coronavirus. So the beneficiaries are also oriented about safety measures and precautions to stay safe from it.
 Current status/Impact:
SAANJHA CHULHA:-
 (1) 50 people are being served daily twice a day.
 (2) 500 food packets are being given to the people at Jhule lal bagiya on bank of Gomti river (1 APRIL-Till date)

Uptil now 650 KHUSHI Kits have been distributed among transgender community, household working ladies and daily wages labours (SUPPORTED BY : GOONJ, RAJEEV GANDHI FOUNDATION & INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS)
