Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your love and support.

I met Bindhu, an architect and had agreed to help with the initial phase of design of the tower. She will finish the design in the next few days. I also spoke to Mr. Jagadeesh who will be helping with the construction of the tower. As of now, we have 2 places within Chennai in mind where we would construct the tower. It will be either near Kundrathur or near Shollinganallur depending upon the logistics.

We foresee the material sourcing by the end of June and if all goes well, we should have the materials with us by the end of August 2018. I reckon that we need clearance from Forest Department to source bamboo. We have made an estimation of the cost of construction to be close to 150,000/-. It may go beyond the estimation/may work out less as well. As this is an experiment, we are open to modify and retrofit things as we go. This time I have requested the constructors to take videos and photos at regular intervals of the progress so that I can keep you all posted and updated.

Stay tuned and will come back with more update.

Regards,
Selva

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your love and support.

I plan to do further experiments with the Warka tower and this time, the construction will happen at Chennai. There have been a lot of queries regarding the Warka tower from CSRs and non-profits. Most of the request is to share the design with them.

Firstly, I am still in the process of figuring out what will work and what will not and so I do not have a design in hand. Secondly, if I am able to demonstrate some success, I will definitely share it with others and make sure that the benefit reaches all.

Thanks for your support and the fundraiser is open again for constructing the second experimental Warka tower.

Dear All,
Update on Warka Water project : The first trial of the Warka Water tower we built was not successful. Both the standing type net and circular net failed to capture water. As this was built around Dharmapuri district, may be the dry conditions are not suitable for water harvest. The standing net was built to a height of 40 feet and the circular net to a height of 30 feet. Beyond those height the wind takes a huge toll. I will start more experiments after I return back from my studies. Currently, I am on a 1 year break to do my MBA from University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. I do plan to attend a workshop with Warka Water sometime later this year!.. I have written to them to suggest me a good time to visit them. Thanks all for your support! and special thanks to Piyush and Salem Citizen Forum for the help in construction of tower.

Will soon get the cost of the construction and other accounts details from Salem Citizen Forum and share with you all!

Selva
