Dear Donors,

I am happy to share a good news with all of you. All your support and the promise that we made to you has come true today. The main mistry (craftperson/mason) declared that today was an auspicious day to inaugurate the Water Mill (Gharat).

After almost 3 years of attempts, effort by the village group it is with delight that I share that we have completed the water mill. It took blood, sweat and tears (all three literally) and a whole lot of good wishes from all of you to make this happen.

I thank you all for being part of this journey with us thus far and leave you with the final impressions of today. Please do take pride in the fact that it is also  your contribution which has helped raise capacity at a small village in the corner of mountain in Himachal Pradesh and make a difference to their livelihoods.

Do not hesitate to contact us back at - jaivikhaat@gmail.com - in case we can help get some packs of the ground atta to you, if there is interest.

A wholesome thank you again for making this happen!

As promised here are the images of the functional water mill and with this the project stands closed from our side. Do see our other work ongoing work here - https://gramdisha.wordpress.com/ - and be in touch at graamdishaa@gmail.com - for any future interests.

Hello,

We are continually posting photos of the progress in building the Gharaat at this link -https://photos.app.goo.gl/bjVk6NoDkE415EL83.

About 60% of the structural works in traditional Himachali dry stone masonry is done. Till now the total sustainability is 100% since stone is used from the nearby riverbed or waste stone around the village which is available in plenty and recycled.

Manual labour is used for dry masonry without any ex-situ material such as cement or steel. Thus making this structure 100% sustainable. Even the door, frame and window grills are recycled from member farmers household spares.

Please do check it out!

Thank you for the support.
