Dear Supporters,

Closing the campaign early. Reasons, a lot! Everyone wants us to admit a viral disease canine, but they dont have the time to share. I, Kaveri Rana, work 20 hours a day rescuing, rehabilitating, fighting court cases and FIRs against animal cruelty and trust me at the end of the day I don't have enough energy left to share on social media. I have dropped the idea, understanding that dreams don't turn into reality. The funds raised on this campaign have been used to treat and save 3 out of 4 distemper patients. Guriya, Lucy and Porus survived. Leo didn't make it.  100 dogs and puppies were vaccinated against 6 in 1 including booster shots.

Thank You everyone who contributed to save 100 plus lives from deadly Parvo and Distemper.

#SOS #URGENT #DISTRESSCALL Tragedy has Struck SMART Sanctuary! We are under #Quarrantine for #Distemper.

On April 17, someone left a tiny GSD pup with severe eye and nose discharge at the main gate of the sanctuary and conveniently went away even without knocking. When found, the pup could hardly breathe because of the choked nostrils, was twitching badly and passed away mid treatment. Vet declared cause of death to be Distemper.

Staff, Entrance and main gate of the Sanctuary were immediately fumigated and disinfected as per the procedure and we were assured that our kids are safe as they all are vaccinated and the sick pup did not enter the premises.

Little did we realize that in his last breaths the pup transmitted enough virus in the air for direct airborne contact. A week from April 17, 10 residents started coughing and had fever. Treatment was started and all seemed to recover, when suddenly Day 17, Guriya started coughing again. Snap Dx4 and Distemper tests were run twice which confirmed Tick Fever but no Distemper. Day 20, Guriya went into seizures. We immediately moved to support treatment under expert consultation from Dr. Vijay Pathak. Distemper test was redone and third time it came positive! Serums have been administered and Guriya is still on support therapy. Distemper has left her paralyzed. She has started eating but is still critical as per her vet.

Second shock came when paralyzed pup Lucy, Paralysis Recovered Porus and paralyzed Leo started coughing again Day 19, 23 and 25 respectively and had high fever and heavy nasal discharge. Vet confirmed Distemper! Leo was also diagnosed with Tick fever. Supportive Treatment alongwith serums for all have been started. We have managed to keep Lucy and Porus from entering neuro phase but unfortunately Leo's frail body has entered non stop seizures, has high fever and is the most critical. He is on IV support as he has stopped eating.

Prophylactic booster vaccinations have been done for all The SMART Furries and the neighborhood dogs on suggestion from our vet in a desperate attempt to control the outbreak. Second booster shots of vaccinations have already been preordered and stored. We are urging the villagers to get their street dogs and pets vaccinated.

Our heartfelt gratitude for Guriya's rescuer Nonika. She has been a constant pillar of support to us by spending as much time as she can with Distemper fighting kids.

 How you can help?
 Please Pray. Volunteer. Foster.
