Dear Supporters,

iSaksham is currently training 120 people to be tutors. 70 of them are actively involved in educating children in the Naxal affected areas of Munger and Jamui. Each tutor is currently teaching 20 students on an average.

The organisation is currently working on strengthening education delivery models with more workforce. There are plans of educating children in areas beyond Munger and Jamui.

This campaign and its subsequent results have not only helped children gain education, but also contributed to a marginal percentage drop of child marriage in these villages. The campaign champion, Aditya Tyagi, reports that a few parents are seeing the benefit of getting their children educated over getting them married. Working with these parents is extremely tough and is one of the challenges faced by iSaksham. Tyagi says, “Progress is very slow, but in areas like Munger, child marriages are rampant. Even one child being sent to school instead of being married off is a huge step towards awareness.”

Not only children, but also their tutors are gaining a better quality of life. These tutors, most of whom are female, are not allowed to work post marriage due to conservative social dictat. Tyagi tells us that this is slowly changing. “Many female tutors are choosing to teach and get educated over getting married. Their families, too, are beginning to notice the change in their quality of life,” he adds.

Encouraged by their growth, many tutors have shown an interest in pursuing graduate studies in various fields. But they lack guidance in this regard. To resolve this, iSaksham is looking for career counsellors who’d be willing to volunteer their time to point these tutors in the right direction.

Aditya Tyagi and his team have expressed their gratitude for all your support.

Thank you.

Team Milaap.

i-Saksham wishes you all a meaningful Diwali. As of today, we are training more than 120 youth from Jamui and Munger in Pedagogy and empowerment through digital literacy. There are challenges, but those are anticipated. This journey so far would have not possible without your support. Thanks a lot for that.
