Hi All,

We've been gradually releasing the payments to the staff across all the cafeteria counters. So far we have distributed the following amount:

  • 1st Installment (1Lakh): Padmakamal Caterers (counter 2 and 3)
  • 2nd Installment (60K): Honey One foods (Counter 1)
  • 3rd Installment (1Lakh): Shinestar Enterprise (Mess, counter 4 and counter 5)
  • 4th Installment (20K): Kuldevi Caterers (Chai counter).
This has benefited 18 workers so far. The list of beneficiaries can be found in the document sections. We plan to cover all the workers in the next 1-2 weeks.

Thank you for your support.

Hi All,

Two weeks ago we reached out to you to support this campaign for helping DAIICT workers, and you donated generously. We can't appreciate you enough for all the support and kind words as well as your help in spreading the word.

You might be curious how these funds will be utilized, and how we plan to ensure they reach the intended beneficiaries. Below we outline the general procedure we are following to ensure transparency and make the process as smooth as possible.

  1. We collected a list of beneficiaries from the cafeteria contractors. We are verifying this list using photo-ids and phone numbers. It is not that we do not trust the contractors, but we believe it is better to ensure transparency at each step. As of now, we have about 60-65 workers on this list.
  2. Once some of the beneficiaries are verified, we pass that list to Milaap, along with their govt issued id card, their employee id card as well as their phone numbers.
  3. We request the withdrawal of funds corresponding to these verified beneficiaries to the contractor's bank account.
  4. The contractors then pass this to the individual workers. We will closely monitor this step by checking with the workers as well as verifying the bank statement of the contractors. In some cases, the workers do not have a bank account. In this case, the contractors will give them cash, in the presence of one of the organizers.
At present we intend to provide support of 20,000 INR per worker. This amount should be able to support them and their families for the next 3-4 months. Hopefully, the institute will be open by January and the cafeteria will be functional again.

This is the first withdrawal request for 5 workers from Padma Kaimal caterers (or popularly known as the dosa counters). The beneficiary list for each such request, including this one, will be uploaded in the document sections.

Both the campaign organizers as well as the cafeteria staff greatly appreciate your support.

Thanks & Regards,
Parth Mehta.
