Hello everyone: The doctors have confirmed that Dad can be transferred out of the ICU tomorrow and will be moved to a normal ward. He should be home within a weeks time. It is a long road to recovery but at last we know he will be able to resume his life.

Thank you for your help.

Dear Supporters,
In the past week I've become something of an expert in Cardiothoracic terminology. I highlight here an excerpt from NCBI which indicates that mortality rates in patients who sustain VSD post MI exceed 90%. This means that in all but a few cases, patients who have a rupture in their heart after a heart attack die. The doctor we saw today told us that the past 4 patients he treated for this condition died post surgery. What we are witnessing right now is a medical miracle.

Today for the first time post surgery the father who I thought I would lose forever spoke to me. He is alive and well and I have all of you to thank for it - those who prayed, sent good wishes, thought positive thoughts, donated, contributed, or just held us close to comfort us.

He is 50% on the road to recovery. He is off the ventilator! The next step is to take out the balloon pump that is assisting his heart function. If that works the doctor says he will make a full recovery.

In how many ways can I thank you all? From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my entire family, I thank you so very very much. My dad is still in ICU but finally I know he will be home soon alive 😃
