Dear Supporters,

On 5th January, the team at Lipok Social Foundation met with villagers to decide on the eligible beneficiaries to promote homestead enterprises. With no hesitation from anyone, the group unanimously voiced two names which took our team by surprise. They even pledged to provide all the support required for the two beneficiary families to establish and grow their enterprise.

Lakhan's father ended his life one day leaving his family in despair. He was led to distress by the successive years of drought, rising costs of cultivation, unseasonal rains and other vagaries of nature, and unfavourable markets. Lakhan has taken upon himself the role of re-building his family. He has one younger brother and two younger sisters. He has to tend to his small farm and do other odd jobs to support his siblings and his widowed mother. The fund donated by you has helped Lakhan to buy goats. The goats will be another source of livelihood and give the family a new hope.

Jeevan's life story is sure to touch hearts. He lives with his mother who is paralyzed from the waist down and his aged grandmother. His father died in an accident. He, as the only son, takes care of every need of his mother - cooking, keeping the premises clean, washing her clothes, etc. Besides, he also has to earn for the family. He rears some chickens and does petty jobs as they come to earn the money for his family. A pair of goats that will come with funds donated by you will ease his worries. Yet, it is a lot of responsibility for a young man of twenty years old.

Dear Supporters,

Thank you all for the support and love.

We are soon to disburse the first amount for a small enterprise in one of the remote villages. We will be conducting evening meetings in the village during the next 2-3 days to identify the beneficiaries, mentor them, and strengthen the systems for monitoring. For this first enterprise, the costs will be about 20,000 Rs which is to be spent during the beginning of next week. The related supporting documents will be uploaded as soon as the small-scale business is established in about 10-15 days.

Thanks
