Alister is one of the quietest guys in the office - but put him on Twitter or Facebook, and see how eloquent he gets. The voice behind our Social Media channels and the hand behind the campaigns, Alister is the youngest in the Milaap team. When he graduated from VIT, Pune in 2012, he was a man with a plan. He knew he wanted to work at Milaap, so he made his way to Bangalore and made it happen.
Apart from being on Facebook and Twitter, he loves listening to music, especially The Beatles and watching offbeat cinema. He's also into fashion - you can tell by the funky green shoes he wears. He dreams of starting his own social enterprise (and going to the gym) someday!
Ami manages our Global Outreach program by developing and stewarding Milaap's for-impact capital pool through individual, corporation and foundation giving. She is involved with several US based organizations advancing the rights and opportunities for young children and education around the world. Ami is very active in the fund raising and advocacy space in Dallas, TX, where she lives with her husband, two kids and two dogs. Ami also co-founded a nonprofit entity called www.propoor.org, an internet portal that provides information, resources, and news about development work in South Asia. In addition to her development work, Ami has had a few years of retail experience managing a jewelry line and a home & décor company. She has had various buying & planning positions with Dallas-based Neiman Marcus in their online/catalog unit and brick-and-mortar retail space. Prior to her retail career, Ami worked as a fixed income analyst covering Emerging Markets for UBS Warburg.
Ami holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She is an avid reader, loves to write, is a movie buff and loves to read out loud to young children.
Anoj leads the team in India, running day-to-day operations of the company with a focus on community engagement and corporate partnerships.
A Starting Bloc Fellow for 2010, Anoj co-founded Milaap after working with SKS Microfinance in energy and water services. He has also worked at ReEx Capital Asia, a cleantech investment boutique in Singapore and served as a fellow at D.light Design, developing consumer financing & mapping models for rural electrification.
Anoj graduated from National University of Singapore with a Bachelors in Engineering and Minors in Economics and Technology Management. He is a founder member of the Microfinance Society in Singapore.
When Anoj witnessed first-hand the impact of a $10 solar lantern, sold on credit, to the extremely poor in tribal Orissa, it sparked in him the idea for Milaap - to connect with ease the struggling 700 million people of India with prosperous Indians and the Diaspora, thus, creating opportunities that change the playing field for the poor at an everyday level.
Bhairavi manages our field partnerships and on-ground impact studies. Before Milaap, she has worked with Tata DoCoMo & Cognizant. In her time there, she had the chance to learn both the fine art of relationship management and the rigorous science of analysis. In between gainful employment, she also gained an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi.
Outside of work, she likes books and hobby hopping.
Harshika works as a fellow on Milaap's financial risk management. In the process, she is fascinatedly touring the world of microfinance. She is a Chartered Accountant with prior experience at Deloitte Haskins & Sells and holds a graduation degree from Mumbai University. Right after her CA results in August, she joined Milaap in October, 2014.
While in her final year at college, Harshika co-founded Tamarind Rice, an e-magazine that is entirely crowd-sourced - from content to design. She enjoys organising literary events and house parties. In the future, she wants to work on education and rural policy in India.
Harsh is our Content Marketing bloke. He works across content promotion, content partnerships, social media, and content writing. He’s always been an all-things-digital fanatic, online marketing was just the right space when he passed out from the Christ University, Bangalore, in 2013. He’s an MBA in Marketing. Prior to Milaap, he’s worked in content marketing at an ad-tech startup, Vizury.
He went to a boarding school at 10, has been away from home ever since. He’s an utter-outdoor-person, a travel enthusiast, a backpacker. In his free time, if he’s not on one of his ‘weekend-trips’, he can be found watching noir, war, or classic cinema. He’s been writing a book for 2 years now, and hopes to finish it (if that ever happens!) sometime before 2020.
Harshvardhan Parihar is a Software Engineer at Milaap who began his career as a Rails Developer. He graduated in 2011 with B.Tech Degree in Computer Science from SKIT, Jaipur. Harsh is a Ruby programmer, passionate and enthusiastic about ROR web framework.
He is working with Milaap since July 2013. Prior to joining Milaap, he was working with Roam Space Travels Pvt Ltd. He enjoys working in start-ups. He loves travelling and watching movies.
Originally a Fine Arts degree holder, Jitendra transitioned into the role of a Front End Developer because of his love for all things web-related. He hails from Bikaner, Rajasthan. He previously worked at HolidayIQ.com before joining the Milaap team. Having been a huge fan of Milaap, he grabbed the opportunity to be part of the team when a suitable position opened up.
He loves attending tech meetups, reading articles on design, development and marketing in his spare time.
Josceline got hooked on to Milaap once she started off as a volunteer editor. Inspired by the true stories of Milaap’s hardworking borrowers, she began lending, campaigned, and later, jumped at a chance to join the team. She manages our online content, weaves Ruchir’s stunning photographs into our newsletter stories, and works with Shub and our volunteers on loan supply.
Before Milaap, she ran her own consulting gig, and led client relations, steered program management, and managed projects at Motricity, Hungama, and Lionbridge. Originally from Mumbai, where she earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications, she now lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. She divides her time between Milaap, volunteering, baking, haunting libraries, and hiking with her daughter and husband. For her, Milaap is not work; it’s a fulfilling, great time!
Travelling isn't just about visiting new places, it’s all about owning that experience, she believes. Yes, she is excessively in love with globetrotting. Besides this she is a voracious reader and finds fiction fascinating. When it comes to writing, she feels passionate about it. She also maintains a blog on several subjects. She loves watching sitcoms.
As an undergraduate student she did her Majors in English literature. And she gained her Postgraduate degree in Journalism from Hong Kong Baptist University. She is about to complete her 6 months Fellowship Program at Milaap, wherein she worked with the Field partner Prayas, which is located in Gujarat.
"The fellowship program helped me in acquiring profound insight. It changed me as a person," she says.
Margaret is a Post-graduate from Karnataka University, Dharwad and a graduate from the Fellowship program from the Deshpande Foundation. She works on field operations, with a special focus on sandbox operations in Hubli-Dharwad region. She believes Milaap is a great opportunity for her to work with a team of young people bringing a change to the communities across rural India.

Mathew is a corporate lawyer with many years of experience in working with start-ups across the globe. He graduated from NALSAR University, completed a post graduate degree from the University of Oxford, holds a honorary teaching position with the Singapore Institute of Legal Education and heads Kochhar & Co.'s Singapore Office.
He chanced upon Milaap in his free time, lent some, fell in love with the idea and decided that he would like to work with us as part of his pro bono initiative. Apart from wearing a suit and tie and looking old, Mathew dives, hikes and tries to surf.
Mayukh leads the business strategy and is the architect of the National Skill Loan Portfolio Fund - from concept to execution. Prior to co-founding Milaap, he has been a financial risk consultant in Dubai, where he worked with top banks and asset management firms. An empiricist to the core, Mayukh has spent the last four years in building technology enabled financing models - working in consumer lending for solar-lanterns for D.light, then in developing an commodity financing company as the Head of Collateral Finance with one of India's leading agri-logistics providers.
Mayukh is an electrical engineer from IIT Madras and a PGDM from IIM Lucknow. In his free time, if not researching on how technology is shaping up the future of financial services, Mayukh can be seen on a street tour with his camera, or locked up in a room trying to solve problems in plane geometry.
Paul is one of our Rails developer and is a Computer Science Engineering graduate hailing from Thrissur, Kerala. He took the start-up plunge right after he completed his graduation and is a firm believer that the start-ups provide a great learning opportunity. Previously he has worked with Codelearn.org.
He likes reading books on history, travel and current affairs magazines. He loves trekking as well.
Pragati is a Fellow with Milaap, working with our field partners and borrowers, bringing back true stories of hope, resilience, and change.She graduated in 2012 with B.Tech Degree in Information and Communication Technology from DAIICT, Gandhinagar. After working for about a year as a Software Developer with Sapient Consulting Pvt. Limited, she set out to find her true calling. She is interested in new-age sustainable innovations aimed at harnessing the largely untapped potential of rural areas.
Apart from work, she loves music, reading, writing and travelling.
Puii Pachuau is working as a fellow with Milaap, based in Mizoram and Manipur. She has completed her masters in Psychology from Delhi University and is currently pursuing her Ph. D in Mizoram University.
She enjoys travelling, baking, music, and is a big movie buff especially horror movies. She likes to try new adventures and has a bucket list a mile long of crazy things she would love to do.
Rahul is the resident Salesforce Admin/Developer, but above all, the trouble-shooter at Milaap. He completed Post Graduation in IT from GITAM university in 2014. Milaap is his first step into his career as a software professional. He hails from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
On the personal front, he loves to explore new places and wishes to explore every corner of the world in this lifetime. What most of his Milaap colleagues don't know is that he is very keen on swimming and used to be a National level swimmer.

Apart from dancing in the office, Riya manages Brand mash-ups at Milaap. She seeks out secret zones where different brand values connect & then concocts magic formulas to further their respective marketing strategies using Milaap's awesomeness.
A Gold Medalist at Delhi University in Mass Comm and an Advertising Post Graduate, Riya recently moved from the big city chaos of Mumbai to the start-up buzz of Bangalore. Earlier, she had a 3+ year stint managing Marketing at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. An Air-Force daughter, she has led a nomadic life so far and hopes to continue down that road. 'I am from nowhere, and also from everywhere,' she says. Currently she's trying to bring out her inner spartan version of Nigella Lawson, and the Milaap team couldn't be more excited about that!
Rohit Sharma hails from Jharkhand. He is a Computer Science Graduate from SJCE, Mysore. He is a QA Engineer at Milaap and he is responsible for weeding out bugs in our code, something he quite enjoys doing. He has previously worked at SCS Tech Global as a Software Engineer for 1.7 years.
He likes playing cricket, chess and watching movies in his spare time.
Ruchir is our film-maker from Nagpur. An Engineer who went on to find his passion later, Ruchir has done his Masters in Mass Communication from Symbiosis. He has worked as an assistant director in feature films and various Ad films and has made independent documentaries. His motivation to work with Milaap is to use his talent for a cause that has an impact on communities in rural India. He wants to capture the emotions of the borrowers, show the conditions they live in and tell their stories and helping the audience connect to them.
He loves photography and believes that power of visual media can impact the lives of the people for the better. While he's not spending time behind the camera, he spends it in front of the big screen, watching movies of various genres, in various languages.
Sagar is an analyst with Milaap's Skill Development program. He interacts with the student-beneficiaries and assists them through the life-cycle of the loan. He holds a B.Com. degree from Osmania University.
In his spare time, he loves playing basket ball and listening to music.
Satya is a part of the Global Outreach team - she manages the Outreach, Fundraising and Publicity initiatives in Asia. She fell in love with and has worked for many tech-enabled social enterprises over the last 2 years, after getting deluded with the Finance industry at JP Morgan Chase.
She is also a closet geek, having studied Information Systems at Singapore Management University. In her free time, you’ll find her cooking healthy food, traveling, reading about psychology, productivity hacks and personal finance or running around sunny Singapore.
Shireesh is Mechanical Engineer who began his career in the software industry right after college. Apart from a passion for coding, he brings a lot of experience to the table. One of Milaap's earliest lenders as well, he has followed our progress from the very beginning. So when the opportunity arose to combine his passion for software development to achieve positive social impact, in a hard-core start-up environment like Milaap, he jumped at the chance.
On the personal front, he is a movie buff, loves Hindustani Classical Music & Ghazals, and is interested in photography.
Shub started her job at Milaap writing borrower stories. She has since worked on Content, Communications, PR, social media in varying degrees at various points. Being the longest surviving member of Milaap, her role has evolved to include Partner Tool management which ensures data flow from the Field Partners to Milaap and onto the website is seamless.
She likes to call herself a reformed software engineer who saw the light before it was too late. After five years in the industry, she decided she wanted to do something a bit more inspiring. Since writing had always been a love, she jumped at the chance to work in an ad agency where she learnt the ropes of writing good copy under someone she considers the best boss ever.
Sourabh is a tech – turned – social entrepreneur. He started his first company – a mobile applications startup, straight out of college which he ran for two+ years before shutting it down. He then took a break and lived the corporate life for a couple of years before starting up Milaap. Sourabh is passionate about mass market activation for bringing convenience to people. Milaap for him is an extension of this passion, an opportunity to involve the masses in bringing convenience to the poor with every loan made. Sourabh is a fitness enthusiast and maniacal about healthy eating.
Sujit, our resident graphic designer, helps make everything digital about Milaap beautiful. He abandoned Engineering to study fashion and lifestyle accessories design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore.
Before Milaap, he had a brush with Bollywood when he worked with Eros International as a designer . He also founded 'Tilottama', a clothes brand aimed at bringing fame to the Sambalpuri textile tradition.
Our Tech Lead, Sumisha is an MCA graduate who hails from Palakkad, Kerala. She brings seven years of experience to the table, and has worked at Sourcebits and Bitla Software earlier.
She loves to a code 'a lot', and enjoys watching movies and listening to music. She's been in Bangalore for seven years, and loves it for the cool weather and green cover - both of which she believes are fast fading.
Sushmita is the friendly face at Milaap who manages People and Culture, and is a Project Manager at PlugHR. She thoroughly enjoys one of her key responsibilities - ensuring that the Milaap team gets some fresh air every once in a while. Keen on developing a good company culture, she takes care to ensure that the employee happiness index is always high, since a happy team is a productive team.
A native of Guwahati, Assam, she has completed her MBA from Sheffield Hallam University, UK and has worked for Capita Customer Management Pvt. Ltd. in the UK for 2 years before joining Milaap. Sushmita enjoys travel, reading and listening to music. But her one true love is movies - given a chance, she would like to take up permanent residence at a movie theatre. What the team learnt about her, at a party, is that she is a great singer who has learnt music for over five years, and wait for it....even performed on stage in shows!
As a Milaap Fellow, Sutender enjoys working with our field partner Mahashakti Foundation in Odisha. His main goal joining Milaap was to experience real-time the operations and impact of non-profits and microfinance. He is quite passionate about sustainable development, and is thrilled to witness and contribute to the cycle through this fellowship program.
Besides his work at Milaap, Sutender also participated in the Peace Revolutions’ self-development fellowship program in Thailand in 2013. He holds an engineering degree from Amity University.
Usha Madhan, takes care of all things finance-related at Milaap. She holds a post-graduate degree in Commerce from St. Joseph's Commerce College, Bangalore. She ensures that the loan disbursements to field partners happen on time, and takes care of repayments to lenders and from our field partners.
Usha is by far the most sought-after person at the end of month, when it's time for salaries and reimbursements! She is also our co-founder Mayukh's right-hand person.
Vaibhavi works as a Fellow on Milaap's Partnerships and Business Development. She graduated from IIT-Delhi in 2013 as an Electrical Engineer, post which she worked as a Field Engineer with Schlumberbger.
She has a passion for social development and firmly believes in the importance of data-driven approaches, evaluation and strategy to bring about social change. With an enthusiasm to pursue a career in the social impact space she decided to quit her job and joined Milaap Social Ventures.
