I met Sasi Dehuri during my last field visit to Siripur, Bhubaneswar . She lives there with her two children, and her husband. She works as a housemaid in 5 houses in her locality for a living. Her husband runs a food stall and they together earn about Rs. 15,000 per month.Â
She took a loan from Milaap through Mahashakti Foundation for her elder son's education. Her elder son, Sankar is currently studying 2nd year Arts in Maharshi College. She told me that they had used the loan amount for his admission and coaching fees. Sankar is a bright young boy and hopes to do his graduation after completing his schooling. Â Her younger son is in the eight standard and also attends tuitions like his elder brother. When I asked Sasi why she sent her children for tuitions, she told me, " Tuition's have become very important these days. The school education has become so difficult that one cannot follow without additional guidance . And we are hardly educated to teach our children, so we don't have much of a choice." Sasi and her sons would like to thank you for supporting them.
