A Growing Tumour In This 3-Year-Old's Body Can Kill Him Without Urgent Surgery

“Just today morning, we saw blood in his urine. Siddharth was so scared, he looked at me and asked if this was normal. I held him close to myself and told him that he is going to be fine soon. But in my heart I knew that if I can’t afford the surgery my only son...he will not survive,” - Kaliyappan, father.

Siddharth has a growing tumour in his urinary bladder. If the tumour increases any further, it can kill the 3-year-old. His only hope now is an urgent surgery.

He stopped passing urine one day

It was last year June when Karthigai, his mother, noticed that Siddharth would cry or wince in pain each time he would pass urine.

“We thought it was an infection, drinking more water and some antibiotics would cure him. But the pain in the stomach started getting worse and then one day he stopped passing urine completely. We were so scared, we took him to the doctor immediately. A few tests later we were told that there is a growing mass in his bladder. The mass was cancerous in nature and needed to be treated soon,” - Karthigai Selvi, mother.

Siddharth was started on chemotherapy and he was showing signs of improvement. The tumour was reducing in size but after four months things changed for the worse.

He's in severe pain - he can't sit or turn sides

Siddharth is suffering from Rhabdomyosarcoma. It is a rare form of cancer that is aggressive - the tumour is now 5.5 cm in size and it is increasing. The 3-year-old is in severe pain, he can’t sit, he can’t turn sides - he passes urine through a tube. He also constantly complains of a shooting pain in his lower abdomen.

“The doctors have told us that they would have to remove his bladder and fix an artificial one there. It would be a 6 hour long surgery. They have said he needs it as soon as possible - chemo and radiation can’t cure him. But it would cost me around 6 lakhs. I have never seen so much money in my life, how will I afford the surgery?” - Kaliyappan.

“But I wasn’t prepared for such a dangerous disease to engulf my child’s life. And I am so helpless that I can’t afford the only thing that can save his life. I can no longer see him like this, please help me save him,” - Kaliyappan, father.
