They Removed Part Of Her Skull To Control The Swelling. But We’ve Run Out Of Funds To Put It Back

Every day, I sit by my wife’s hospital bed, hoping she’ll open her eyes — but she remains unconscious. She’s in the ICU, after two brain surgeries. Doctors say she needs further treatment, but we need over ₹10 lakh — or I’ll lose her. She’s just 45. And yet, here she is — lying still, tubes in her nose, pipes all over her body. Machines are keeping her alive. And I sit here, helpless.

It all happened on 26th June. We had gone to Lonand to seek blessings, and while returning home, I was riding the bike. The road was rough, but I didn’t see that huge pothole. The front tyre got stuck, and she was thrown off the bike. Her head hit the road hard, and she started bleeding — so much blood. She didn’t wake up. People gathered, helped me get her to the hospital in Satana, 50 km away from our village. The doctors there said it was a severe brain injury — a subdural hematoma in the Left Frontal Temporal Parietal Region. She was rushed for emergency surgery. They removed a part of her skull to control the brain swelling.

I thought she’d wake up. But days passed… nothing changed
Then the doctors said another surgery was needed. She was still unconscious. They did a tracheotomy — a hole in her throat — so she could breathe through a machine. She can’t eat. They feed her through a pipe now. That morning, she was laughing, talking. And by night, she was lying in the ICU, and I don’t even know if I’ll ever hear her voice again.

I’ve been here at the hospital for weeks now. I can’t leave. I can’t work
My son sends what little he earns as a daily wage worker. But he has his own family — a wife, a little daughter. We’ve spent everything. Took loans. Sold whatever we had. But the bills keep coming — ICU charges, surgeries, medicines, blood. The doctors said once she’s stable, they’ll do another surgery to replace her skull bone that was removed. But all this needs money. They can’t proceed unless we arrange more funds.

Over 10 lakh rupees — that’s the cost doctors said
For people like us, that’s an impossible number. She worked as a maid. I worked as a municipal sweeper. We never had much, but we had each other. And today… I feel like I’m losing her. If she passes away, I will lose everything — my home, my family, my reason to live. I have sold everything I could, begged, borrowed — but it’s still not enough.

Please help me save her. She has so much life left to live...
Just a few months ago, our granddaughter was born. My wife was so excited — she kept talking about how she would watch him grow up. We thought this was the beginning of a happy chapter in our family. But now… she’s lying here. If you’re reading this — I’m begging you, please help me save her. Whatever you can donate, however small, can help bring her back to us. And please share this with others — maybe together, we can bring her back to life.
