Falling From The 2nd Floor Balcony, This 7-Year-Old Is Fighting For His Life In The ICU

On 20th January at around 4 pm, Sridhar and Sunitha’s son fell from their neighbour's balcony while playing. Falling from the 2nd-floor, the poor child suffered from traumatic head injuries and is currently fighting for his life in the ICU.

"I was at work when I got the call and my heart sank. I rushed to the hospital as fast as I could desperate to see my child. But upon reaching, he was already rushed to the operation theatre as he needed emergency surgery. When I left in the morning my child was absolutely fine and in a matter of a few hours, he was battling death.”- Sridhar

Surgery for fatal internal bleeding

“He told me he is getting bored and wants to go play with his friends. Like always, I asked him to come before sunset. He went to our neighbour’s house and soon I heard people shouting outside the house. I couldn’t understand the commotion. But then, I saw my grandson lying on the floor. He was unconscious and despite sprinkling water, there was no movement.” - the Grandmother

While the grandmother frantically called the parents, the little boy was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, Upon reaching, doctors notified that there were no visible fractures or injuries but his head, it was bleeding internally and needed immediate surgery.

Hoping he can hear them, they give him words of strength

“He is our only child and we love him so much. He is good at his studies and loves to cycle around the house in evenings. There was not even a day when he got severely sick, never a day in the hospital. Watching him struggling to even breathe or communicate with us is heartbreaking. Hoping he can hear us, we give him strength that we are here with him, but our poor boy can’t even move…” - Sunitha, mother

Sridhar’s father passed away due to a brain stroke a few years back. For the 5 member family, including his old mother, brother, wife and Sridhar, this little boy is the apple of their eye. However, they are failing to continue his treatment.

They are scared to lose this little boy due to their inability to afford treatment

Unconscious since 2 weeks now, the little boy is showing signs of improvement but he is unable to move his body or open his eyes. He needs continued treatment, which this family cannot afford. They have spent 8Lakhs so far, their life savings.

I work as a contractual lab technician at primary health care centre and my wife is a school van helper. Both our incomes put together are enough to get by but for a treatment this big, we are helpless. We have put all our life savings and there is nothing to mortgage. We are scared to lose because of our inability to afford the treatment.”- Sridhar
