Abdul has always known the agony that cancer brings, not inflicted directly on him but through his family. Earlier, he lost his father to liver cancer, and now seeing his own son fight blood cancer is terrifying him with all those painful flashes of grief and loss.

Cancer is always so tough to deal with. But when it's your 7-year old putting up a fight against it with all his might, you will do everything in power to save him. That is what Uzma and Abdul have been doing since the past three years when their only child was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, blood cancer at the tender age of 4.When the first time their son narrowly escaped cancer after completing his chemotherapy protocol, they thanked their lucky stars. But seeing all his symptoms return in the past few weeks have frightened them. Their son's cancer has relapsed.
Strong side-effects of treatment has damaged his liver

He gave up his well-paying job to stay by his son's side
Abdul's son is in dire need of chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant. Only when his diseased bone marrow is replaced with a healthy one will his body be able to produce healthy cells to help him survive. But his life is now at a stake until Abdul manages to arrange INR 18 lakhs for his treatment."I used to be the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at a college. But today, I'm living on crumbs.My son needed urgent medical attention so I had to quit my job to be there for him, both emotionally and physically. I solely depended on my savings from the salary to pay for his treatment and I was successful because my son was alive and playing right beside us. But now, to start from scratch and gather lakhs of rupees again have bleakened my hopes." - Abdul, father
