Abdul has always known the agony that cancer brings, not inflicted directly on him but through his family. Earlier, he lost his father to liver cancer, and now seeing his own son fight blood cancer is terrifying him with all those painful flashes of grief and loss.

"I pray to Allah to never let a father witness a day where they become so helpless that they have to stop their son's cancer treatment just to be able to feed their stomach first. Cancer has completely charred my little boy with the harsh chemotherapy, not just once but twice. It has infected my son's liver so gravely that he was critical condition in the ICU, and it still continues to put my son's life in danger." - Abdul, father

Cancer has painfully gripped this little boy once again
Cancer is always so tough to deal with. But when it's your 7-year old putting up a fight against it with all his might, you will do everything in power to save him. That is what Uzma and Abdul have been doing since the past three years when their only child was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, blood cancer at the tender age of 4.When the first time their son narrowly escaped cancer after completing his chemotherapy protocol, they thanked their lucky stars. But seeing all his symptoms return in the past few weeks have frightened them. Their son's cancer has relapsed.

Strong side-effects of treatment has damaged his liver
"It was a rebirth for him when he beat his cancer the first time. When all his vitals got within the normal parameters, we were ecstatic. But we failed to realize that this fatal disease would come back to haunt him again. He has completely taken to bed with this jaundice, and is unable to chew food. His legs tremble with weakness even while lying on the hospital bed." - Uzma, mother

He gave up his well-paying job to stay by his son's side
Abdul's son is in dire need of chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant. Only when his diseased bone marrow is replaced with a healthy one will his body be able to produce healthy cells to help him survive. But his life is now at a stake until Abdul manages to arrange INR 18 lakhs for his treatment."I used to be the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at a college. But today, I'm living on crumbs. My son needed urgent medical attention so I had to quit my job to be there for him, both emotionally and physically. I solely depended on my savings from the salary to pay for his treatment and I was successful because my son was alive and playing right beside us. But now, to start from scratch and gather lakhs of rupees again have bleakened my hopes." - Abdul, father

It's been 45 days since their son has been admitted to the hospital. Every passing day has become a reminder for this couple of losing their son any moment, until a transplant is carried out. Along with prayers, only your generous contributions can save their son now.
