Preeti Gupta’s eyes brim with unshed tears as she waits through the trials of time for her husband to wake up each day. Since 15th October 2023, Shailendra Gupta has been struggling for consciousness after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
“He suffered a high blood pressure attack while he was riding his motorcycle. It was during this accident that my husband suffered a brain hemorrhage. Every waking day of my life, I have prayed for nothing but the safety and good health of my family. A fatal motorcycle accident has left him in a comatose state, they fear losing their only support in life
Due to the injury caused by the disbalance of his motorcycle, Shailendra’s lungs filled with vomit which led to him falling unconscious on the spot. To this day, Shailendra has been in a comatose state with unresponsive reflexes. He has undergone surgery previously to manage the damage the hemorrhage caused in his brain.
Currently, Shailendra is on ventilator support, and medications are being administered through pipes inserted to help him survive. His critical care at the hospital is estimated at a cost of around 35,000 rupees per day. To help him heal, the doctor has stated that Shailendra needs radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and other medications that will cost about INR 10.5 Lakhs.

We are left so helpless, I'm in so much pain seeing my son suffer through such a terrible fate. No one can understand the pain I feel seeing the one I gave birth to, who grew up to be such a kind soul, is now struggling to live. They have taken loans to get him hospital care, and exhausted from all ends, they urge for help to save the breadwinner of the family.
Shailendra worked as a low-wage fourth-class laborer in Nagar Palika Palia, with the responsibility of taking care of his elderly mother Maya, his younger sister Vaishnavi, his wife Preeti, his 3-year-old son and school-going 8-year-old daughter. The family has lived very simple lives, trying to get by with minimal resources but also saving for the children's education and Vaishnavi’s marriage. But all the plans of this poor family came to a tragic halt as the sole earner of the family suffered a brain hemorrhage.
“The doctors say the continued hospital care, and the medications are estimated to be around 10.5 Lakh rupees. I've begged and borrowed from our relatives to afford the treatment, and we've gone as far as spending all our hard-earned savings. I can't even feed my starving children because all the money I can manage goes into hospital care. My little ones call out to him but he never responds. How will we live without him? It is often said that people's generosity has the power to save lives, and so I urge for your generosity to save my husband. Your help can give Shailendra a fighting chance at survival.” - Preeti, tearfully.
With each passing day, this family is helplessly witnessing their support barely survive against his circumstances. Shailendra needs hospital care to one day be able to gain consciousness one day. But with bare finances, it is only through your generosity that can get him this continued support. This family is living through their darkest nightmare, and it is only through your help that they can hang onto the light of hope.
