People Deserve Dignity Even In Death... I Will Not Stop Until They Get It

In 1995, I witnessed a moment that changed my life forever. At a crematorium, I saw a man, grief-stricken, being beaten for stealing half-burned logs to cremate his son because he couldn't afford it. His pain shook me to the core.

I left that crematorium with a lifelong mission burned into my soul: I would try and ensure that no one, no matter their circumstances, would be denied final rites.

I left everything behind so I could do 'sewa'

I left my successful business behind and started helping families who couldn’t afford basic cremations. With just a few volunteers, we drove through Delhi, answering calls from those in need. Over time, we expanded, providing free funeral vans, ambulances, and even mobile mortuary boxes to help families gather for last rites.

We had little except the will to help, but word spread, and soon, we were overwhelmed by calls.

Once I started helping people this way, I wanted to do even more

As we grew, I realized it wasn’t just the dead who needed help—many were struggling to stay alive. Hospitals charged high fees for emergency transport, so we stepped in with free ambulances, ensuring no one was denied life-saving care. We've now transported over 85,000 patients, performed 76,000 cremations, and organized 200 blood donation camps.

How can I say no to someone in need when every call could mean saving a life or providing dignity in death?

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we didn’t stop. Despite the risks, we cremated over 4,800 bodies, driven by the belief that everyone deserves dignity in death. In the years since Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal was founded, we have grown exponentially in our impact. To date, we have ferried over 85,000 patients in our ambulances, handled more than 95,000 bodies, and performed over 76,000 cremations. We’ve also organized over 200 blood donation camps, donating more than 65,000 units of blood to those in need.

Today, we need your support to continue this vital work. Rising costs and increased demand make it challenging, but with your help, we can ensure no one is left behind. Together, we can uphold dignity in both life and death.

Your donations ensure that no family is left waiting for help, no matter the time or place.
