“For the last 3 months, we have been going from one hospital to the other, trying to find what is wrong with our child. Only 2 days ago, we found out that it is skin cancer”- Suhasini, mother of 14-yr-old Sahana.
Sahana had been suffering from constant fever which refused to go away. Suhasini noticed that her daughter was showing an abnormality on her skin as well when she immediately started taking her to hospitals.
Suhasini is a primary school teacher while her husband Shivananda works multiple jobs to keep the household running. They borrowed heavily to afford tests and treatments to ease their child’s pain.
Sahana’s condition kept deteriorating, her eyes started to swell abnormally and she had no strength to sit up or walk. Finally, a few days ago, the helpless parents were given the most devastating news- their daughter has Skin Cancer.
“Our world came crashing down when the doctor told us it is skin cancer that is killing my daughter. She needs rigorous treatment to survive this, and it has to start right away. But how can we afford such a huge amount in such short time?”
Sahana fights for her life bravely while her parents struggle to afford her treatment in time. "She tries to open her eyes and hold my hand, to reassure me that everything will be fine. We are failing her as her parents".
