Shunned By Society, His Massive Tumour May Soon Blind Him And Crush All His Dreams To Live A Dignified Life

"I still remember the day when he was born and the lady who came out of the room holding my tiny son in her hands, saying I've been blessed with a 'Rajkumar' (meaning Prince). That name immediately struck a chord with Munni and I as he became the apple of our eye. But today, this facial tumour has left him scarred, lonely and in extreme pain. Nobody wants to even look at his face anymore." - Viren, father

A complex tumour is deforming his face since birth

Rajkumar was merely 5 years of age when a facial lump turned into a tumour out of nowhere and leaving the left side of his face drooping. Despite 2 surgeries, it still kept expanding and deformed his left eye and mouth, making it very tedious for him to read, eat or even speak. As per the doctors, the tumour arose out of a cluster of abnormal cells, leading to his face swelling up.

As the tumour grew, he kept isolating himself from the society when he became an object of mockery for neighbors and kids. They called him inappropriate names and even his relatives refused to be served any food or water whenever they came to visit his home. His self-confidence was shattered and a point came where he locked himself in the room and begged his parents to let him rot alone.

This is the corner where Rajkumar would hide whenever any relative came to his place

It makes him feel like a burden on his parents and society

As a family with humble means, they had spent their entire life savings on Rajkumar's first 2 surgeries and their daughter's wedding. This time they need Rs.10 lakhs all over again because the mass intensity of the tumour is so severe that not only his face but his eyes, neck and lips also have to be corrected through it. If his his surgery is delayed any further, it will only be a matter of time when he will turn blind as the tumour consumes his entire face.

"My condition has tortured my parents physically and mentally. With a heavy heart, they have to hear all the taunts just because of me. They physically exert themselves with manual labour to run this household because none of us are educated enough to hold a job. I joined college but after the first day of bullying, I dread even stepping inside my college now. What will I make out of my life as everytime I try to courageously take a step forward, life pushes me ten steps back again? I have lost countless opportunities despite having talent so I feel defeated now. It makes me feel like a burden on my parents and society."- Rajkumar

His aged mother's only plea is for people to be kinder to her son's plight

Munni devi, Rajkumar's mother, feels that age is catching up on her and so she just wishes to see her son get cured so that she can peacefully pass away. She has been relentlessly praying that her son gets the corrective surgery as soon as possible but in vain as their weak financial condition is making it extremely difficult.

"When a matrimonial alliance came for my daughter, they had put a staunch condition to not have Rajkumar present in the wedding as it could scare the guests away. As a mother, I love both my children equally so how could I take such a drastic step of not letting a brother be there for his own sister's wedding? But my son obliged without any question. He didn't want his sister to undergo the same plight as him. It breaks my heart every day when people fail to see his good heart, but only judge him from his face." - Munni devi, mother

Rajkumar, a young man aged 21, needs a reconstruction surgery that will end his 20-year-long misery. He has been pursuing Bachelor of Science and dreams to study law after that. He wishes to advocate for many others like him who never got a chance to have their voice heard in the society. But this can't be possible as without this surgery the tumour will soon turn him blind.
