"I Have Polio, Yet I Walk Miles Daily—So No Child Sleeps Hungry"

I Am Sudhir Kumar, And I Feed Slum Children For Free.

It all started when a small child stood in front of me and said, "I haven’t eaten in two days." His words shook me. His parents had left for work, leaving him with nothing—no food, no money, just hunger. I handed him a plate, and as he ate, I saw both tears and happiness in his eyes. That moment changed everything.

For the past three years, I have been waking up at dawn, pushing through the pain in my leg—polio makes every step harder, but I don’t stop. My wife and sister-in-law cook meals in our small home kitchen—rice, dal, vegetables—stretching whatever little we have. By 1 PM, I pack the food and walk miles to the slums, making sure over 200 children get at least one proper meal a day.

Some of them take extra packets for their siblings, knowing there won’t be anything waiting at home. For many, this is their only meal of the day.

People often ask me, "What’s the hardest part?" Is it my physical struggle? The exhausting routine? No. The hardest part is the financial burden. I have borrowed money, skipped my own meals, done everything I can—because if I don’t, these children go hungry.

But I can’t do this alone anymore. If I stop, they suffer. Every small contribution means another meal, another child who doesn’t have to sleep on an empty stomach.

Help me feed them. Help me keep them from hunger.
