3-Year-Old Is Fighting For His Life Again Less Than A Year After Beating Cancer, You Can Help Him

“It's like God is punishing us yet again. As if watching our baby suffer once wasn’t enough, now we are forced to relive those horrible experiences. They told us that he had beat cancer and he was doing great health-wise! Our lives were just getting back to normal too. But now his cancer is back, and this time, it is much worse. He’s so small…  so innocent. He doesn’t deserve this–” - Vaishali, mother, unable to hold back tears

After less than a year in remission, his cancer relapsed

Prajwal was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) , a form of blood cancer, at the age of 1, in April 2019. He underwent intensive chemotherapy and supportive treatment for over 2 years and was finally declared cancer-free last year. But a month ago, at one of his routine check-ups, tests found that his white blood cell count was abnormally high - his cancer had relapsed.

“This came as a shock to us. We hadn’t even considered the possibility of a relapse. We’d just been happy that our son had beat cancer, and grateful to have him with us. But here we are yet again, less than a year after he was said to have recovered, praying that fate won’t be cruel enough to take him away from us.” - Vivek, father

A bone marrow transplant is his only chance of survival

ALL is a rapidly progressing cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects white blood cells. It is the most common childhood cancer, and with appropriate treatment has a great chance of cure. Little Prajwal needs to undergo high-dose salvage chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant, to beat cancer once and for all.

His parents have exhausted everything they had, they need your help

Vivek was a private employee, until he was forced to quit his job when Prajwal was fighting his first battle against cancer. He now works as a daily wager, earning only INR 300 a day. After utilizing all his financial resources and even borrowing from relatives and friends to fund his son’s treatment previously, he has nothing left and is now in a difficult predicament.

With his current income, he cannot pay off his son’s mounting hospital bills. Prajwal’s life-saving procedure will cost these parents INR 30 lakhs, an unimaginably large sum that they can’t afford. That’s why, they are turning to you with the hope that you can help save their baby boy.

“These past 3 years, I felt like I was living in a nightmare - constantly on edge, sleep-deprived, and extremely worried about my son’s well being. I was always restless, afraid that if I turned away for even one second, something terrible could happen to him. Now, with his cancer returning and his condition worsening, I’m terrified that my fears could come true. I just can’t lose my precious boy…” - Vaishali
