“My son asks me, ‘Papa, will Mummy be okay?’ And I just nod, forcing a smile. But deep down, I don’t know what to say. I’ve already lost my mother. I can’t lose my wife too. She is the only strength our family has left.” —Sanjeev, husband
Sanjeev is a devoted father and husband who has been pushed to the edge. Eight months ago, he fell from the stairs and fractured his hand. The injury still hasn’t healed, making it impossible for him to do any labour work. With no income, he now watches helplessly as his 30-year-old wife, Pooja, fights blood cancer, while also trying to protect their eight-year-old son from the growing fear and uncertainty at home. Diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), Pooja is in urgent need of continued treatment. But without work, without savings, and with mounting debt, Sanjeev feels powerless to do the one thing he wants most: save his wife and give their son his mother back.

‘She used to take care of us all… now she’s the one in pain’
Pooja had always been the anchor of their home. She cared for her son, her husband, and her in-laws. Earlier this year, she underwent surgery for kidney and gallbladder issues. Soon after, she began experiencing vomiting, weakness, and a sudden drop in platelets. Even after a transfusion, her condition worsened. CT scans and bone marrow tests confirmed the worst: cancer.
“After her diagnosis, I watched my strong, kind wife change before my eyes. She used to walk our son to school. Now she struggles to sit up. She has frequent nausea and headache…she hasn’t eaten well in days. At one point, she developed spots on her face which made her depressed. She is scared…she asks who will take care of our child if something happens to her. I have no answers.” —Sanjeev

‘Please help me save her… for our son’s sake’
The past few months have been nothing short of a nightmare. In May, Pooja’s mother-in-law passed away from heart failure, and a large part of their savings was spent on her treatment. Sanjeev has been out of work for nearly six months due to his injury. His hand is still in pain, and attempts at odd jobs — including tile laying — have only worsened it. Their small family has no income and no help. They’ve already spent ₹3–4 lakhs on Pooja’s treatment, and exhausted their savings. Three rounds of chemotherapy are done, but many more are needed.
“We’ve sold everything we had. My elderly father can’t help much anymore. My son is scared. He doesn’t fully understand what cancer means, only that his mother can’t walk with him, and sometimes cries quietly when she thinks no one is watching. Please… help us. Help me save her. She is our world.” —Sanjeev
