Support Lakshmi in Her Pursuit To Build A 24x7 Free Vet Hospital For Helpless Stray Dogs

We had once encountered a tragic case where somebody had hit a dog with an iron rod and shoved it into its mouth. The rod was stuck in its back throat for more than three days. When we found the dog, its wounds were rotting. We rushed it to the hospital and even a surgery was performed…but we could not save its life. I was not able to eat or sleep for two days because of this incident.”- Lakshmi Swaminathan.

In the city of Bengaluru, a ‘pawerful’ guardian named Lakshmi Swaminathan has forged a pact with destiny: to be the unwavering beacon for the city's abandoned dogs. Through Mylos Rescue, her NGO, sick, injured, and forlorn street dogs find solace.

She get calls all the time, even at night, from people regarding dogs who need to be rescued

Lakshmi's dedication knows no bounds. She dashes to aid a distressed pup at the odd hours, undeterred by those questioning the urgency. To her, every second holds a life in balance. For over 12 years, she's been the valiant warrior for these voiceless beings.

We get calls all the time, even at night, from people regarding dogs who need to be rescued - some get attacked by acid, some by hot water, some are stuck inside drains or pipes - the list of animal abuse is long.” - Lakshmi Swaminathan.

Myslos Rescue is home to 250-plus street dogs

While Mylos Rescue was officially registered in 2021, Lakshmi's saga of rescuing and nurturing ailing strays traces back over a decade. Her ambition transcends the countless lives already saved; she envisions more.

Consider Hari's story—an elderly dog, burdened by a colossal 6.9kg tumour in his abdomen, crying out in anguish. Discovered by a compassionate stray feeder and reported to Mylos at midnight, Hari's plight spurred the rescue mission. Despite the grim odds, the team was resolute in their mission to save him. A marathon five-day surgery, an ensemble of skilled doctors, and unwavering determination bestowed upon Hari a second chance. His tale echoes the myriad of lives touched by Mylos, aspiring to obliterate animal suffering and provide an oasis for strays.

Mylos's mission is resolute: to rescue, nurture, and find loving homes for strays.

Mylos is a fervent advocate for spaying and neutering to curtail the stray population. Moreover, it's a sanctuary for over 250-plus dogs unable to endure the streets due to age or illness. It stands as a shining light in Bengaluru, propelled by swift responses and an unwavering team.

The shelter, one of Bengaluru's largest, aspires to house more than 1000 rescues in the future. It is constructed with eco-friendly materials. The objective is clear: to extend a helping hand to more animals in need, ensuring sustenance and medical care. They conduct vaccination, sterilization, and adoption drives, aiming for a society free from the agony of stray animals.

Her only passion in life is ensuring the welfare of her furry friends

“I think of all the dogs that I have rescued so far as my own children. I am a single woman and they are my only family. I live for them, I earn for them. My day begins and ends with dogs” - Lakshmi Swaminathan.

Driven by Lakshmi's unwavering vision, Mylos Rescue strives for a world where every stray finds a haven until they're embraced into a loving home. It's an ongoing quest through vaccination, sterilization, and adoption drives, all in pursuit of a world where every dog receives the care they deserve.

She needs your help to build a hospital for them

In the relentless pursuit of their noble cause, Mylos Rescue faces formidable challenges. With a daunting debt exceeding 35 lakhs looming over their heads, the need for sustenance echoes louder than ever. They require a minimum of 50 kg of food daily to ensure the well-being of their cherished dogs. Amidst these hurdles, Mylos has managed to construct a shelter, an oasis for the strays under their care. Their ambition doesn't halt there; a 24x7 free vet hospital, now halfway completed, stands as their next beacon of hope. This hospital aims to conduct a monumental Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaign and fortify an efficient animal rescue initiative to significantly alleviate the suffering of stray animals in Bengaluru.

"Our journey is one of unwavering dedication, fuelled by a passionate vision to end the suffering of stray animals in India. Each brick in our shelter and every effort towards the hospital is a testament to our commitment. But our mission is far from over. We need your support to turn these dreams into a reality. Your contribution will not just aid our dogs; it will resonate with the heartbeat of compassion that beats within each of us."- Lakshmi Swaminathan.

Every contribution is a stitch in the fabric of hope, a step closer to a world where the plight of stray animals is a thing of the past.
