“I see her talking endlessly and playing with her sisters, laughing and... and suddenly she becomes weak and tired. Sometimes she says her hands are burning and sometimes she doesn’t even have the energy to tell me what is happening to her. How long does my child have to go through this?” - Parveen, mother
Blood transfusions ever since she was 8 months old
Humera was 8 months old when her body started turning pale and the right side of her stomach started getting hard. The parents thought that it might be jaundice and their daughter
would be fine but tests said something else. She was diagnosed with thalassemia major, a blood disease. Ever since then, she has been having regular blood transfusions to stay alive.
“Now the doctors say that without a bone marrow transplant, my daughter... she won’t survive. With each day that she grows, her disease is growing with her. We are running out of time and we don’t know what to do.” - Parveen
No matter how much I drive this auto, I will never be able to arrange Rs 9 lakh
“Every day I step out of the house praying to god that nothing should happen to my child. Driving this auto is the only source of income. I can’t stop working because every penny is so important to us, and I fear each minute that I will lose her. But whatever I do, however much I ride this auto, I will never be able to arrange Rs 9 lakh.” - Moulali Sayyad, father
My 9 year old daughter, Muskaan, is the donor
“We asked the doctors if Muskaan will be okay after the surgery... They said that she will be absolutely fine and there is nothing to worry about. I still worry, but Muskaan however is very brave and says 'It will be okay mummy, nothing will happen to me'. I just want my kids to grow together happily and not suffer like this ever again.” - Parveen
