“My brother was in the ICU for weeks. His body is covered in infections, his stomach has a hole, and his hands are fractured. I can’t bear to see him like this. He was always the one caring for others, but now he is the one lying helpless in a hospital bed. Please, I beg you, help me save him.” — Rajavikram, brother

A road accident made him completely unrecognisable…and in a critical condition
On July 27, Rajsekhar met with a devastating road accident while returning home on his bike. A lorry rammed into him, leaving him with critical internal injuries. He was first admitted to a local hospital, but delays in treatment worsened his condition. By the time he was shifted to Hyderabad, doctors found a hole in his intestine, multiple fractures, a blood clot in his head, and sepsis, which is a deadly blood infection spreading through his body.“When I first saw him after the accident, I could hardly recognise him. Tubes everywhere, machines keeping him alive, his face swollen in pain. My heart broke that day — the brother who once saved lives as a junior doctor’s assistant/nurse practitioner is now struggling to save his own.” — Rajavikram

‘He suffers a lot, but can’t even convey it’
Rajsekhar is conscious now, but his suffering is unimaginable. He is in constant pain, unable to talk properly and convey his discomfort. The intestinal injury makes every meal difficult, while infections continue to put his life at risk.“He tells me he just wants to go home. That’s all he wants. But he is in a very bad condition where he is almost entirely bedridden. My brother, who once worked tirelessly for his patients, now cannot even do anything by himself.” — Rajavikram

A father, A husband, A medical caregiver — Now helpless without funds
Rajsekhar is the father of two young children, aged seven and eight. His wife, Aruna, is a schoolteacher on contract. Together, they were raising a modest family in their village. But since the accident, everything has collapsed. So far, the family has spent ₹13 lakhs on treatment, borrowing heavily from relatives and friends. The hospital bills alone crossed ₹6 lakhs in a single day. With both Rajsekhar and Aruna unable to work, there is no income left to support their children or continue his care.
“Every rupee we had is gone. My sister-in-law’s savings, my brother’s earnings, loans from relatives — everything is exhausted. The doctors say his treatment must continue, but without money, how can we? We are desperate. Please, help us save him.” — RajavikramClick here to contribute.
