Young Man Who Dreamed Of Joining The Police Struggles To Stand After Tragic Accident. Help Him

“I can’t forget the day of the accident. Dipak left the house smiling, talking about his future. Hours later, he was on a hospital bed with broken legs, crying in pain. He wanted to wear the police uniform one day, but today, he cannot even stand. As his sister, my heart is breaking to see him like this.” — Nikita, sister

‘He had such big dreams and now without help, he may never get the chance to walk again’

Dipak had always dreamed of joining the police force. He worked as an office boy in Mumbai, saving whatever little he could while preparing for a better future. He was determined, hardworking, and wanted to lift his family out of poverty. But he unfortunately met with an accident on the day of Ganpati Visarjan. The accident shattered both his legs, leaving his left one in a far more critical state. The flesh and bones have to be rebuilt piece by piece, and every step toward recovery feels painfully distant. His road to healing is long and without help, he may never get the chance to walk again. Now, he spends his days staring at his bandaged legs, unable to believe that his dream has been snatched away.

“When he asks me, ‘Didi, will I ever walk again?’ I don’t know what to say. I can only hold his hand and tell him not to lose hope. I don’t want to add to his pain by talking about how we are struggling to get funds for his treatment.” — Nikita, sister

‘We don’t have the money required to continue his care…help’

Dipak's family is extremely poor and survives on daily wages. His Aai works as a maid, Baba as a construction labourer, and his sister Nikita is a housewife living with her in-laws. They do not have land, jewellery, or savings to sell. When the accident happened, villagers helped the family raise ₹3 lakh for his first surgery. But the cost of treatment has now risen to more than ₹8 lakh, and they have nothing left to arrange it. Dipak is young. He should be out in the world, working and building a life. Instead, he is lying in a hospital bed, in pain every day. Without urgent surgeries, his left leg may never heal.

“I cannot watch my brother’s life slip away like this. He is young, hardworking, and he deserves a chance to live with dignity. Please help us arrange the money for his treatment. Even a small contribution can help bring him back on his feet.” — Nikita, sister
