Brijkishor Sharma never imagined their worst nightmare would repeat itself. Six years ago, the family of eight endured the unimaginable loss of their daughter. Despite every effort, a chronic liver disease claimed her life.
Now, after years of mourning, Brijkishor's family is facing the same battle—this time, it's their son fighting for survival.
"We lost our daughter to the same illness, and now we're watching our son suffer. Even now, I'm in shock. Not able to understand why this is happening to us." - Brijkishor, father
The Doctor Said Liver Transplant Was The Only Option
This turmoil began four months ago but as a mild and unsuspicious weakness. A quick visit to the doctor resulted in a month of medicine. It didn't take long for the young child's health to escalate to traumatic stomach pain.
Desperate, the family sought answers from specialists across Delhi, Jaipur, and Chennai. The diagnosis was far worse than they expected. The liver disease called non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis had already caused significant damage.
We Sold Everything We Had, It's Still Not Enough
As a stone-cutting labourer, Brijkishor earns just Rs 500 a day, barely enough to cover their daily needs and rent.
The untimely loss of their daughter drained their savings. To fund his wife's recent kidney cyst surgery and the marriages of their three remaining daughters, they even had to sell their home and vehicle.
Every time I look at my son, I see his elder sister. She wanted to live, too, but we couldn't save her. I can't let that happen again." - Brijkishor, father.
The 22 lakhs needed for the transplant now feel almost unreachable. With their relatives unable to help, every penny goes into his son's regular medication. Now, Brijkishor is left with nothing.
To make matters worse, all fresh income has stopped for the past three months because of the constant hospital visits.
The ordeal has taken a heavy toll on the family financially and emotionally.
He Begs Us to Save Him, But We're Running Out of Hope
The one thing that keeps the family going is their son. This 14-year-old dreams of becoming a doctor to help his family. His determination burns brightly, even as his pain intensifies.
Each night, he writhes in agony, often begging his mother to save him, telling her he wants to live.
"I can't even cry. If my son sees me, he says, 'Don't cry, Ma. Just wait, I'll become a doctor and help everyone.'" - Mother
For his parents, the trauma is unbearable. Sleepless and unable to eat, they are consumed by fear.
His mother, still recovering from surgery, can only pray desperately for her son's survival.
Brijkishor is willing to donate his liver—and even his life—but they still need funds for the procedure.
While their son's unwavering determination fuels their hope, that alone is not enough. Without immediate support, they face the unthinkable—losing yet another child to this relentless disease.
Now, your compassion and support are their only lifeline, the one way their story turns from heartbreak to hope.
Join the campaign and donate to save this child's life and keep this family together.
