Her Husband Is Gone, Her Father Has Cancer—Now This Mother Struggles To Save Her Only Child’s Life

“My husband died just a few months ago. My 78-year-old father is going through cancer treatment. And now my little girl is fighting kidney failure. I have lost so much already. If something happens to her too, I don’t think I can survive it.” — Anuradha, mother

Anuradha’s daughter was only three when her health began to decline. What seemed like a simple swelling in her eye quickly turned into a devastating diagnosis—nephrotic syndrome, a severe kidney disorder. Over time, her tiny body began swelling around the eyes and ankles, and the illness has now left her vulnerable to even more dangerous complications. She has been on continuous medication ever since, trying to live a normal life while struggling with the pain of a chronic disease.

Her condition worsened after she turned seven…she is critically ill now

She started having constant coughs and colds. She was always tired. Her creatinine levels shot up, and doctors had to start her on regular dialysis. Now, nine years old, her daughter needs dialysis almost round the clock. Doctors say that if a transplant is not done soon, her heart, eyesight, and hearing could also be affected.

“She used to love school, painting, and dancing. Even when she felt weak, she tried her best. But now she studies at home during dialysis. She asks why she has to be in pain all the time. She is scared of the dialysis tube that goes through her stomach, but she never complains.— Anuradha

‘My in-laws abandoned us after my husband died’

Anuradha’s husband passed away in January 2025 due to fatty liver disease. After his death, her in-laws cut ties with her and her child. They offered no help and even refused to give her husband’s share of property, which could have helped with medical costs. She now lives in Dibrugarh with her daughter and her elderly father, who is battling stomach cancer. Anuradha works as a tailor, but her income is barely enough to cover daily expenses, let alone the cost of treatment.

“I was left to deal with everything on my own. No one even asks how she is doing. It hurts, but I can’t waste time feeling sad. I have to stay strong for my daughter and my poor cancer-ridden father.”— Anuradha, tearfully

‘I’m ready to give her my kidney—but I don’t have the money to save her’

Doctors have said her daughter urgently needs a kidney transplant. Anuradha is a match and is ready to donate her kidney. But she has already spent over ₹4 lakhs and now needs ₹10 lakhs more for the transplant. Without a stable job and steady income, it is impossible for her to arrange this right in time to save her child.

“She is my only child. I will give her my kidney. I will do anything. But I don’t have the money. Please help me save her. She’s just a child. She deserves to grow up, to live, to smile again.” — Anuradha
