The Cancer Remained Undetected For Few Months
It was love at first sight for both Chander Kant and Sushma. They met in office, and somewhere between deadlines and laughter, they fell in love. But it was Chander Kant who took the first step and then there was no looking back. In about a year’s time they got married and then became parents to a beautiful boy. Life could not have been more beautiful for Chander Kant and Sushma, until the devastating cancer that slowly grasped Chander Kant recently.
Sushma says, “It started with a mouth ulcer. Initially he did not pay attention. But then he started having trouble in eating his foods. He went to a homeopathy doctor first, but the medicines were of no relief. And then he went to a dentist. It was the dentist who suspected cancer for the first time, after going through the test report he asked him to take.”
They Lost All Their Savings To Save Chander Kant’s Life
For Sushma and Chander Kant, it was as if their life had suddenly turned upside down. They went hospital to hospital and doctor to doctor with a hope that diagnosis would turn incorrect. But everywhere they got the same reply. And finally, they went to Delhi, where Chander got operated and received few sessions of Chemo to get rid of the cancer.
Narrating about the days, Sushma says, “In those few months we lost all our savings, jewellery, and whatever we had. We even took help from our relatives and friends. I knew I had to save him, and for that I was ready to go any extent. That moment money was nothing to me. Only thing that mattered to me was my husband’s life. And finally, I was relieved when the doctor said that my husband was free from cancer.”
His Cancer Relapsed, And Now They Don’t Have Money For Further Treatment
But unfortunately, the relief and happiness did not last long. Just few months after Chander Kant was operated, he complained about a severe chest pain. Further tests revealed that his cancer has relapsed, and this time it is more aggressive and painful. The doctors have suggested immediate chemotherapy and immunotherapy sessions. But Chander Kant and Sushma have run out of all means to arrange fund even to keep the treatment going.
With tears in her eyes, Sushma says, “After my husband was detected with cancer, both of us lost our job. And the first round of treatment took away all our savings and belongings. Our friends and relatives also helped us till they could. Now we don’t have any means left. Even my son’s education has also got paused. But right now, our only worry is my husband’s life. We cannot live a single moment without my husband. Please help us. Please let me save the man whom I love the most.”
