India's First Couple To Provide Free Ambulance Service

In India, approximately, 24,012 people die every day because of delays in getting medical assistance on time. Meet Himanshu and Twinkle, an extraordinary couple on a mission to bring hope and help where it's needed most. United by love and a shared vision, they embarked on a unique journey when, in 2002, they received an ambulance as a wedding gift. Their story is not just about love; it's a tale of compassion that led them to establish an NGO providing free ambulance services. Despite facing challenges, they've touched over 80,000 lives.

How did it all start?

At the age of 14, Himanshu's life took a drastic turn when his father met a tragic accident. leading to a desperate struggle for medical help without easy access to transportation. They couldn’t find an ambulance for him due to which his father slipped into a coma. The incident not only claimed 2 years from his father's life but also stole away his childhood, education, and family's peace of mind. Himanshu's painful experience ignited a determination to prevent others from enduring similar hardships.

How did the couple get an ambulance?

When Himanshu and Twinkle tied the knot in 2002, they received an unusual yet impactful wedding gift – an ambulance.

Motivated by Himanshu's past trauma of almost losing his father, the couple chose to make a difference in the lives of others by dedicating themselves to providing emergency medical services for free.

What have they done?

After founding the NGO "Shaheed Bhagat Singh Help And Care Society" in 2002, Himanshu initiated 24/7 free ambulance services. Placing posters at nearby government hospitals, he extended his reach to cover areas up to 300 km away.

The couple faced personal health challenges, Himanshu had three blockages in his heart’s arteries on the other side his wife, Twinkle was battling hepatitis B and later cancer, yet finding the strength to serve others.

Why do they need support now?

Himanshu and Twinkle, despite their tireless efforts, face financial challenges in sustaining their essential ambulance services. Their earnings from selling insurance are insufficient to cover the loans, driver salaries, outstation calls, petrol, and ambulance maintenance. Despite borrowing money and taking advances, the couple struggles to manage funds, hindering their ability to respond effectively to the increasing number of emergency calls.

On some days, they receive over 15-20 calls, handling cases ranging from building fires to railway accidents and violent stabbings. The urgent need for funds is driven by the ongoing operational costs, ensuring that the Ambulance couple can continue to provide critical assistance in various emergencies. Your support can contribute to the continuity and expansion of their mission to save lives.

What impact can they create with our support?

Having assisted over 80,000 people, the Ambulance couple aims to use funds raised to manage monthly expenses and expand their services to more cities. Their plea for support extends to acquiring five additional ambulances, crucial for handling the increasing number of emergencies and sustaining their mission of saving lives. Your assistance can make a significant impact in enabling this dedicated couple to continue their noble cause.
