My Husband’s Kidneys Are Failing—Time’s Running Out, and Our Daughters May Lose Him Forever

We’re a small family of four — me (Nisha), our two little daughters, and my husband, Akhtar, who has always been the strength and heart of our home. After losing his parents when he was young, he promised that our daughters, just 3 and 7, would never know that kind of loneliness or pain.

But today, he lies weak and fading, barely able to lift his head. With his kidney failing, I’m terrified he may not get the chance to see us for much longer.

It Took Two Years To Find Out It Was Kidney Failure

Akhtar fell from a wall and hurt his leg while installing a battery at work. After taking painkillers, his legs suddenly began to swell and hurt unbearably. When we rushed to the hospital, doctors ran tests to find that his kidneys weren’t functioning. They prescribed us medicines, but nothing got better.

We went from one hospital to another, in Jhansi, Lucknow, and even Delhi. Finally, one specialist diagnosed him with end-stage kidney failure.

I Took Up A Job To Help, But It Barely Feeds Our Children

To keep our children fed and Akhtar alive, I took a teaching job that pays just ₹6,000 a month. Since his 2-3 dialysis sessions cost 12,000 a week, even that was not enough.

Akhtar used to earn ₹9,000 at a battery shop, but now he’s too weak to stand. After already spending 6 lakhs, we had to sell our jewelry and home to keep the treatment going.

I Still Don't Have The Heart To Tell My Daughters

I keep telling our daughters everything will get better soon. I force myself to smile so they don’t have to carry this sorrow. One day, Akhtar whispered, “If I don’t make it, raise them strong.” It shattered me. We dreamed of raising strong, educated daughters. Now, I don’t even know if Akhtar will be around to see them grow.

Akhtar's transplant is going to cost another 5 lakhs. Since I was not compatible, his elder sister has selflessly volunteered to be his donor. I'll do anything to give my daughters their father, but I don't know how.

If We Wait Longer, Akhtar Won't Be Able to Bear Surgery

Dialysis is weakening Akhtar beyond repair. If we wait too long, the transplant won’t even be possible. I’m doing everything I can, but I’m all alone in this fight.

We need your support to give our daughters their father back. Please, help Akhtar and our family get a second chance.
