Help Baby Grishmitha fight a serious blood disorder

Grishmitha is a 3-year-old suffering from Thalassemia Major and is critically ill.  She urgently needs a BMT to be performed that can ensure a permanent cure.

After several consecutive tests, it was revealed that Grishmitha had Thalassemia Major – a severe form of the genetic condition that required her to take blood transfusions every month.
Her father Madhukar Pujari is from Vajarahalli in Bangalore. He is a Pan vendor and makes his livelihood from a meager earnings of Rs. 11,000 . Paying for Grishmitha's treatment is beyond his imagination and that's where we need your help!

Currently Grishmitha is on monthly blood transfusions but this cannot go on for a long time as it can damage her organs.

She also needs an urgent match from an international registry as her parents are not suitable matches.

Approximate cost of the treatment is Rs 25 lakhs. Madhukar Pujari needs your help to save his daughter.

Dear Supporters,

I am Debotri Roy, an open fellow at Milaap. Here is an update on Grishmita's health.

I met Grishmita and her father, Madhukar on 31st January 2017, when they came for a scheduled check up to consult Dr. Sunit Bhat at Narayana Hrudralaya, Bangalore. The doctor had advised her to undergo a Bone Marrow Transplant as early as possible.

Monthly blood transfusion has affected the child very much. Some of the symptoms are high fever, continuous vomiting, and low hemoglobin count. "It is really difficult for us to travel every month for blood transfusion. I will do anything to save my 4-year-old daughter", said Madhukar. Apart from this, the child is not responding and she is not a playful kid anymore.

Since her parents are not fully matched donors, there is a requirement of a TCR alpha/beta depletion kit which needs to be imported from Germany. The estimated cost for this is almost 12 lakhs. "She is too tiny to deal with such complications", said her uncle. Please share Grishmita's story and help her fight this battle.

Thank you once again for coming forward. We will keep you posted on the child's progress.

Dear Supporters

Grishmitha is doing well and her health is fine. She has been undergoing blood transfusions once every month for the last 8 months because the haemoglobin level in her blood has been low. The Bone Marrow Transplant will be scheduled by the doctors after checking the latest blood test results. Once the operation is scheduled, the search for donor will also start.

Madhuka Pujari has been running from pillar to post to raise the required funds. We are still well short of the campaign target. We request you to spread the word about the campaign in your network on friends and family so that we are able to raise the pending amount.
