I am a Teach For India Fellow, teaching eighth graders at a low income government school in Yerwada, Pune. The kids face tremendous challenges in their day to day life; from obtaining basic necessities to violence in their communities. As a part of this project, I'm trying to provide opportunities to the kids that will not just enable them to get better exposure, but also inspire them to do the same for others in their community. This I'm hoping to achieve through participation in various curricular and co-curricular activities as well as increased social interactions with the other strata of society. The kids, I believe, need to have a clear view of the world outside the tiny deprived bubble they are trapped in, to enable them to envision a better tomorrow for them and their families. The amount collected shall be used for: 1. Football studs, balls, accessories and jerseys for the school football teams 2. Geometry boxes and other school supplies to be used in class 3. Science experiment sets to be used for hands-on learning activities 4. Field trips and competitive exams like National Olympiads, FITJEE etc 5. Workshops and recreational activities 6. Educational books. *Teach For India is a nationwide movement of outstanding college graduates and professionals (selectivity < 5%) who commit two years to teach in under-resourced schools.
