COVID-19 is wrecking havoc on the lives, livelihoods and mortality of many apart from threatening to wipe out vast sections of the our disenfranchised, marginalised and underprivileged people either by infection or by starvation. Rural(Kovilpatti taluk) transgender persons in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu are heavily dependent on begging as their only source of livelihood. Physical distancing is a privilege for many of them living in cramped communes. Most transgender persons do not have government ID proofs viz. Aadhaar, DL, Passport, PAN, RATION, Voter ID cards and end up getting excluded even out of Food Security despite the Food Security Act and/or any other social welfare schemes of the state and central governments.
In these overwhelming times, there is an urgent need to assist the transgender communities with their expenses this coming month. We are a collective of transgender people in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu. Toothukodi has a minimum of 15 transgender households with at least 10 - 12 members. We are trying to raise funds for at least 150 transgender persons for their basic provisions like food, oil, salt & drinking water so that they can also stay at home this month, and stay safe.

The following is the estimate table for the items to be provided for a person for three month.In this we have 5 HIV/AIDS infected trans and senior citizen Trans also there we need special care for them.
