Thilagavathi, my friend for 1.5 decades, got affected by polio at age of 1. She has been moving around using a crutch, as both her lower limbs were affected by severe polio and mainly, the right leg being short by few inches.

Ironically, she got affected by post-polio too at the age of 30, which made her use crutches on either side and her mobility too decreased drastically.

As recent positive development, the ortho surgeon in St. Stephens hospital (Delhi) has agreed to perform rehabilitative surgery to enable her to move without crutches.
