The giving tree is a project that has been running by Cilre for the last 3 years at a government primary school at tippasandra, Bangalore.
The school provides learning for underprivileged children. The entire school has a staff of 3 members who do all the teaching and admin work. The teachers are not trained well in providing English language instruction to the children.
To supplement this shortcoming Cilre offers regular language learning sessions to the children. Over the last 3 years, children have benefited through this - The exam results have improved. The secondary school teachers have also observed the children's capabilities have improved when they are entering secondary school
So far it has been funded by the people who have been part of this project. This year, we are planning to take this to another under privileged school in Koramangala and the funds will be used for materials, volunteer training and support and to provide more exposure to the children
