Support the flight of 10 Indian street dogs to their forever homes in Chicago
Goji, Sugar and Kenzi are 5.5 month old Desi dogs. Their mother Hope was in a terrible car accident on a busy road, and was unconscious when rescuer rushed her to the hospital with skull fractures and a dislocated jaw. It was over 6 hours before she finally regained consciousness, and she remained in critical condition for several days. Once Hope stabilized, doctors discovered she was pregnant, and after a few more days Hope gave birth to 6 beautiful puppies.
The rescuer has also rescued 7 other dogs - one being a senior 9-year old Desi dog. The other 6 are <3 year old female Desi dogs, who absolutely no one in India has come forward to adopt. Foreign adoptions are always kept as a last resort, when after months of trying, no one comes forward to adopt. Their rescuer is a young girl who has taken several loans to rent a place to keep them safely but she is unable to pay any longer and is forced to end her tenancy by next month.
Fortunately, International Street Dog Foundation, in Chicago has agreed to get the dogs adopted in Chicago. But, they really really need your help to make this happen.
It is sad that the people of India have such strong biases against our Desi dogs. We have been making persistent efforts since the past couple months to find suitable homes for the dogs in India but to no avail. All the above mentioned dogs are unable to survive on the streets due to being in foster care since puppy-hood and the circumstances in which they were rescued.
It will cost a total of Rs. 2,38,960 (USD $ 3500) to fly the 10 dogs (INR 23, 896 per dog) to Chicago by the end of July. This is not including the cost of the crates, crate training, micro-chipping and sterilisation.
