The Queer Arts Movement, India [aka QAM(I)] is a fledgling crowdfund-driven arts movement that broke into the Indian queer scene in February 2013. The movement was drawn around a zero-profit budget model, where all funds collected are used for other funding initiatives.

What QAM(I) enables:
1) Festivals celebrating free-love without restrictions, usually conducted as a means to fundraise for another social cause.
2) Funding resource-persons from the community; be it artistes or activists, to ensure they can participate in seminars, workshops etc. across the country.
3) Funding pride festivals and curating artistes for queer-themed art festivals across the country.

Some of QAM(I)s achievements so far:
1) Organising four Festivals of Free Love in Bangalore, between 2013 and 2016 across several venues in Bangalore.
2) Funding several social causes through these events, including: The Bangalore Queer Film Festival (BQFF), Sukhibhava and the Ejipura Working Group.
3) Participation in several queer festivals across India, including Queering The Night (2015) with The Queer Collective India, Hyderabad and Queer & Ally Arts Festival [2015] (QAAF) with Mist, Puné.
4) Sponsoring resource persons for workshops and seminars in collaboration with Queer Ink, Mumbai and Solidarity Foundation, Bangalore.
5) Partnering with unreleased queer-themed films and their teams for private screenings across venues in South India. The first being, India’s first film on corrective rape: Satyavati.  Screenings have already begun in Bangalore and the first screening in Manipal will be scheduled soon.
6) Procuring rights for private screenings of queer-themed films, the first being Naan Avanalla, Avalu – a Kannada feature film based on the life of a transwoman.
7) Funding pride festivals, including #NammaPride2016 by organising fundraisers and covering prizes being offered to artistes.
8) Partnering with queer fundraising initiative Rainbow Kitty, to fundraise for queer organisations within the community.

With a plethora of funding-initiatives being undertaken, the need to get QAM(I)s roots planted firmly has never been felt more urgently.

It is with this hope in mind that we hope to fundraise for a larger amount to enable better organising of the upcoming festival we have planned + our registration + to meet video production costs of our previous events.

How we will spend the money fundraised:
1) Pre-covered events videos: ₹50,000
2) Registration of QAM(I): ₹30,000
3) Budget for upcoming videos (feat queer artistes): ₹50,000
4) Running budget (that will be replenished after every event): ₹70,000
5) Crux fund (the interest earned of which, will further contribute to cover our expenses for the festival/future events): ₹2,00,000

With the money fundraised we hope to organise the following new events:
1) The QAM(I) Habba in July/August 2017: a month-long extravaganza that will aim at spreading a message of love, tolerance and inclusion through the arts.
2) A fellowship for a performing artiste/troupe, funding the creation of a pro-LGBTQIA+ performatory piece that can be taken around the country in 2017/2018.
