    from Sangli, Maharashtra

My Name is Vinod Patil and the fund raised will be used to help my cousin brother who is a victim of Sangli flood recover and get back to normal life.

Sangli city is situated on the bank of Krishna river. The valley of the River Krishna and its tributaries offer many irrigation and agricultural advantages which drive the economy of the district and the city. The river passes through Sangli District, located in the southern part of Maharashtra.

Due to the heavy rains between 1st and 10th August the unexpected flood took over the city of Sangli. Incessant rains are wreaking havoc in Sangli and neighboring villages. As many as 17 people have lost their lives and more than 2 lakh people displaced with no necessities like food, clean water, and clothes. These people included innocent children and women who are fighting for their survival.

More than 500 small villages have been dangerously affected. More than 50,000 homes have been destroyed completely. The water levels have covered entire buildings in some areas. There is no electricity, no water supply. All the highways are entirely covered with only the top of the trees visible. No fuel or vegetation no medication is reaching the city as it is very difficult to enter from any side at all.

Close to 20,000 animals are feared dead and many dead animals are floating on the water, sewage water mixed with river water has created extremely unbearable situations, snakes and other water animals have made their way into the residential areas. The deluge has completely thrown State Transport bus services in Sangli out of operation. The district is completely cut off from the rest of Maharashtra.
Apart from their house structure, they have lost all their belongings and savings. Most of these families rely on agriculture as their primary source of income, and the floods have washed out their farms and animals, thereby affecting them for several months to come.

I urge you to help us with whatever donations you can. We will be grateful forever.
