Name of the Patient: Master Yaswant Raj V.S
DOB: 22.07.2010
Father Name: VijayakumarChandran
Mother Name: Saranya M
Diagnosis: Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis
Child was normal till June 2019 and during the investigation in the month of Nov 2019 at Christian Medical College & hospital, Vellore he was diagnosed with Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis (SSPE).
Since then the child is bed ridden and was unable to move and lost his speech. He is having Myoclonic jerks every 3-5 seconds and totally lost his stability.
Present Stage:
Child is under medication and physiotherapy treatment for the last 19 months (first 5 months being at CMC Hospital and last 14 months in Sri Narayani hospital and Research centre) and there is a slight improvement like stiffness have reduced and little responsive.
Father of the child have resigned his bank job to take care of his son and mother is working as cashier in a hospital at Vellore.
What we need:
Medicine prescribed for the above viral infection is Isoprinosine 500mg and other neuro supportive medicine along with regular physiotherapy. Above medicine is in high demand and also very expensive. As per the letter provided by Dr. Krishnamoorthy, MD DM DNB (Neuro), Sri Narayani Hospital and Research centre, Vellore, monthly expenditure for the child is Rs.50000 per month.
He needs treatment and medication for at least 5 years where the approximate expenses would be Rs. 30 lacs.
We have spent all our savings and borrowed to our extent to support the child medication for the last 15 months and we are unable to move any further.
In this stage we are looking for support and financial support to proceed with further medication and treatment of the child.
