Home is a space where one can belong freely with love. It's a basic need that we all deserve by the virtue of being human, but many women are forced to spend their entire lives in squalor, in small dark brothel rooms. It's time we create a world for them where they're free. It's time to create their home.

GB Road is one of India's largest red light areas, where over 2000 women and children live amidst daily violence in abuse in cramped brothels. From the early years of their lives when they're sold, most women stay within their brothel rooms where they take customers, raise their children, cook, pray, and sleep all in that space. These women and their children live in taboo and alimentation, without even the most basic necessities eminent for living.

Kat-Katha has been working to transform the community for the last 9 years. Aiming at a holistic growth of each woman and child, our focus is to offer skills, belief and opportunities so that the community can live with dignity and freedom of choice. Our efforts however are incomplete unless we break the ghettoisation and assimilate the community with the mainstream society. We need to, together, create a safe space for women and children of GB Road.

The Dream Village project is an initiative to build this safe space. We've identified a land away from the red-light area where the women can live together as a family.

With your contribution, we will be able offer a separate residential area with well-equipped rooms for all women and children. The space will also offer vocational opportunities to make the women self-sustainable through product tailoring and cloud kitchen initiatives. The children of these women would be enrolled in schools nearby and will be offered co-curricular support.
