Help Kurseong Sirubari Move Towards Zero Plastic Waste
Hi, my name is Darshan Yonzon, and I live in the beautiful hills of Kurseong in the Darjeeling district, West Bengal. While our little town is known for its breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings, there’s a growing problem that many people don’t notice—waste mismanagement.
Most people in my community don’t have proper ways to dispose of household waste. Burning plastic or dumping garbage into streams and open grounds has become common. This isn’t just harming our environment but is also affecting our health and way of life.
I’ve been working for a few years now to spread awareness about waste segregation and proper waste management. I’ve talked to people, hosted clean-up drives, and tried to make a difference. But despite all my efforts, financial constraints have made it impossible to take the next step.
I dream of making my village and community a zero-waste zone in the next few years. I’ve managed to arrange and bring together a group of enthusiastic individuals who want to help. What we need now is funding for awareness resources material, Safety equipment, if possible a unit to recover useful material and basic tools for upcycling and repair. The plan also includes upcycling and recycling programs, which will not only manage waste responsibly but also create job opportunities for local people.
This is a project for the community, by the community, but we can’t do it without your support. Your contribution will help us build a better waste management system, spread awareness, and give our small town a cleaner, healthier future.
