The season I once loved is the one I am almost afraid of now. Winters are an especially difficult time for us.
Here is why
Rescues take more time and effort to heal. Community animals become prone to accidents. Mouths to feed increase substantially.
Cases need to be sent for urgent sterilisations.
Feeding about 200 per month costs INR 1,00,000 per month (₹500 per dog)
One urgent expense that we will have to bear is to build kennels, purchase heaters, stock up medicines and gear up for the worst of the winters in the shelter.
We also need to raise funds for the rescues that keep coming every other day as well as the on ground rescues
Our in-house residents who wait for their forever homes are also unsponsored for the months to come
The operating and fixed costs also increase substantially during the winter months , with procurement of bori beds, makeshift homes etc for the community dogs.
We need support to sustain ourselves and give our best to the incoming and existing dogs in our care. Every rupee contributed will help us bring warmth to many animals who need us
Here is a link in which we have listed in brief about all that’s happening, right from building our kennels to the feeding to sterilisation drives. https://youtu.be/KwXWIPuTNKU
