Ever imagined how a visually impaired kid can imagine a boat or a tiger?
India is home to 20% of the world’s blind population and a significant number are in the age group of 5 to 19. Within this group, only a tiny fraction is attending schools and colleges.

But, most of the learning materials they have access to are without diagrams, making learning a hugely complex task for them.

Human brains have evolved to think in terms of visuals and pictures. It also plays a significant role in learning, which is why most school curriculum's are diagrammatic and visually intensive. So one can only imagine how difficult learning must be for the visually impaired.
Hence, less than 1% of visually impaired students can pursue a career in STEM - A dismally low number. But we are trying to change that!
We at Raised Lines Foundation are a Not for Profit startup based out of IIT Delhi, established with the sole aim to empower children with visual impairment. Our goal is to provide high quality, affordable learning and support materials with tactile diagrams for visually impaired learners.

With our approach, we want to enable students with visual impairment to pursue a career of their choice. With the learning materials we have developed, we are confident that visually impaired students can pursue a career of their dreams.

Our aim is to create affordable and perceivable tactile versions of diagrams from textbooks for all age groups in various Indian languages. Our utmost priority is making Science and Mathematics diagrams accessible and we have created a tactile version of NCERT textbooks for these subjects.

So far, we have developed 30+ titles comprising more than 4000 unique diagrams, including NCERT curriculum books on Mathematics, Science, Maps of India and Economics for classes 6 to 10. We have also developed a DIY kit for learning graphs, tactile models, and tactile drawing boards.

A school for the visually impaired in Delhi is looking to provide tactile diagrams to the children and is in dire need of funds. Each set of tactile books for a visually impaired would cost Rs.6000. Help us provide an inclusive learning experience for these children.
Each kit contains:

Kits for Junior Students (Classes 1 to 5)
Tactile Colouring Book
Akshar aur Sankhya Gyan
All in One
Mathematics Learning Kit - Basics of Geometry
Science Learning Kit - Science Primer for Junior Students

Kits for Senior Students (Classes 6 to 10)
Exploring Windows (Computers)
Learning with Tactile Graphics
Tactile Map Book
Mathematics Learning Kit
DIY Kit for Learning Graphs
Advanced Geometry
Science Learning Kit -  Science Primer for Senior Students

With your help and contribution we can positively impact the lives of these children. Imagine living in a world where visually impaired people are provided opportunities on par with sighted people. They can give the sighted a run for their jobs!

This can be made possible with your help. Help us break the barriers, help us improve the lives of people who have great potential to succeed.
