    Vishal Soni

    from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh

Despite of repeated attempts to control the spread of Covid 19, India is currently struggling for survival! The health system has almost collapsed and as a result, thousands are dying due to shortage of essential supplies like oxygen, injections, hospital beds, etc.

Those who are underprivileged and have financial limitations cannot afford the expensive treatment and as a result, they have little choice but to suffer and then succumb to death eventually. Unfortunately, my family is going through the same with my cousin brother fighting for his life as I compile this fundraiser for his survival.

My cousin brother Vishal, 43 yrs old, with whom I shared my childhood and made lots of fond memories, is currently in a critical condition and is undergoing Covid treatment since April 10th at a hospital in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, India. He comes from a middle class family and is the only bread-winner with a dependent wife, daughter and an ailing mother. As they say, “misfortune seldom comes alone” - his mother, who is already having chronic cardio ailments has also got infected with Covid and is in a critical condition in another hospital.

At present, the entire family is broke and literally unable to pay the daily expenses of medicines and hospitalization which is almost 30,000 INR per day. The IV immunoglobulin injection which helps in developing antibodies is priced at 50,000 INR per unit. Given that India is running low on oxygen supply, procuring an " Oxygen Concentrator" (worth 95,000 INR) was a big hole in the pocket. Not to forget the recurring expenses of other medical supplies.

Watching my brother struggle for survival is heart breaking! Having adequate funds will enable him to get the necessary treatment in time hence I humbly request you to contribute towards his survival by making a donation. Whilst we are blessed to remain safe and healthy, making a small contribution can help Vishal survive through this crisis and get back to his loved ones hale and hearty! Also , please do share this in your social circle to spread the word and help me for this cause.
