“I had to undergo an abortion in the past, and the thought of loosing another child scares me to death,” grieves Lakshmi

Both Lakshmi and her husband work as coolies, and although it was quite hard to maintain their family of five, they still managed somehow.

However, their son Vijay’s recent diagnosis has turned their lives upside down for them, and nothing has been the same ever since. It all started when all of a sudden Vijay was down with a fever. He also complained of throat pain. His parents tried to cure him with regular medications but he didn’t respond to the same.

Worried, they took him to the local clinic for a checkup. The doctors there ran a few tests but they could not come up with a proper diagnosis. This, they suggested the family seek medical help elsewhere.

Despite being financially crippled, the family gathered everything they had to treat Vijay. The doctors ran several more tests and finally diagnosed him with blood cancer.
“Your child has blood cancer, and along with medications, he immediately needs to undertake cancer therapy to survive. The cost for the same is somewhere around 14 lakhs ( $ 16921.39),” added the doctors.

The family crossed line to save their child. They sold gold, took loans and even borrowed money from relatives and friends.
But now that they have exhausted all their savings and resources, they have nowhere to go.
My husband and I work as mere coolies, and our income is barely enough to support our family. We have three children to take care of, and we struggle to provide them with two square meals a day”.
“Coming from a very poor background, we did not even have the money to educate our children,” sobs Lakshmi.

A studious boy, Vijay was the family’s hope for a brighter future. But his condition has left him weak and he may never live the life he always dreamt of.
This family has done more than they could to ensure their son gets treated. The only way left for this nine year old to live a regular life is for you to donate.
