In keeping with our cherished tradition, we aim to provide each child with a brand-new set of clothes, crackers, and a delightful festive breakfast, complete with a sweet treat, all for just Rs. 1000 per child. Despite the challenges posed by rising costs, we remain committed to creating a day filled with color and light for our kids.

Our young ones at Vanavil hail from nomadic tribes, historically among the most economically disadvantaged and marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu. Many of them would otherwise spend Deepavali begging for crackers and sweets. Vanavil has been their haven, their sanctuary, since 2005.

About Vanavil:

Vanavil works closely with two of the most marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu. Boom Boom Mattukarars and Narikuravars are ancient nomadic tribes forced to earn a living through begging and selling minor wares. Vanavil was started in 2005 in the aftermath of the tsunami by a handful of youngsters and has grown with the help of individual donors and foundations that are committed to the education of marginalized and underprivileged children.
