The patient is a family member of a fellow RHA volunteer who has been detected with two tumours which are detrimental for her health. She is a mother of 2 children and is just 45 years old.
She was initially taken to Safdarjung Hospital three months ago for where she was then referred to AIIMS. Our volunteers are proactively involved in this case, wherein we were able to find a strong contact at AIIMS through one of our volunteers. It was advised the AIIMS reference that treatment is going to take a long time in a govt hospital as they are already booked for next 3 months with other patients.
As per the diagnosis, it was confirmed that Usha Devi needs an emergency surgery to remove the two cancerous tumours. This has to happen within a span of 10 days hence, the family took the call of shifting to a private hospital.
