With a simple WhatsApp-based solution, PractEZ transforms passive learning into active mastery—helping underserved students strengthen their academic skills and stay ahead.
The Challenge
Despite education reforms, learning gaps persist. Less than 50% of Grade 5 students can solve a simple division problem, and the performance of Grade 8 students in basic arithmetic is under 50% (ASER 2024). Half of all schools don’t have qualified math teachers (SOTTTER 2023), forcing under-prepared educators into classrooms. To compensate, the education board of MH is even considering lowering passing marks for Math and Science from 35 to 20—a worrying reflection of the systemic crisis. Without access to effective learning tools, students from underserved semi-urban/urban communities in Pune and Solapur risk falling even further behind, limiting their future opportunities. If we don’t act now, these gaps will only widen. Our Solution:
PractEZ: A WhatsApp-based tool to supplement in-school learning. We believe learning should be effective, engaging, and accessible—and that’s exactly what this in-house developed low-tech blended-learning tool, delivers.
Designed to support both teachers and students, PractEZ ensures structured, data-driven practice through a simple yet powerful approach:

Unlike most digital interventions that focus mainly on the content delivery aspect, PractEZ prioritizes structured, rigorous practice—the missing piece in effective learning.
- Students receive personalized practice sessions over WhatsApp in an after-school, asynchronous setting, reinforcing classroom learning and improving mastery.
- Teachers assign practice content aligned with lesson objectives, keeping students consistently engaged.
- Next-day performance reports provide teachers with real-time insights, enabling data-driven instruction for more effective teaching.

PractEZ is proud to be incubated at NSRCEL's Launchpad 27, further strengthening our mission to transform learning experiences.
Where We Are Today
We recently concluded our pilot implementation of PractEZ in 3 schools in Pune with 96 students and 5 teachers. Here’s what we’ve seen:- About 19% of the class (5 out of 30 students) practiced math at least once during each day that a practice session was available.
- About 56% of the class (17 out of 30 students) practiced math at least once during each week that a practice session was available .
- ~60% Monthly Active Users
- DAU/MAU ~ 30.5%
- ~86 questions answered per day
- Teachers report a shift - in about a third of the students - from last-minute test prep to consistent weekly practice.
How You Can Help
We aim to scale PractEZ and bring it to 500-600 grade 7 math students in the next academic year and need INR 12,00,000 to do so. We’ve secured INR 1,45,000 through The Circle's Innovation Funding Grant to develop and pilot our prototype, but here’s what we need next:- ₹3,50,000 – WhatsApp platform & messaging costs (Glific, Gupshup, GCP)
- ₹50,000 – Platform maintenance (Consultancy ~₹3000/hr)
- ₹6,00,000 – Content development & validation (Subject-Matter Expert and Content Developers)
- ₹2,00,000 – Program implementation across 20 classrooms
Your support will enable us to create engaging, accessible, and scalable math learning experiences for students. Let’s empower the next generation together!

We promise regular updates on our progress. Looking forward to hearing from you.
