Romy used to live happily on the streets of Meerut. He used to be a docile dog, never bitten anybody, never ever harmed anybody.
One day few humans caught him and cut one of his leg because Romy used to bark at them whenever they used to catch the pigs to sell from that area.
Romy was in pain and hid himself.
The lady who used to feed Romy searched for him for 5 days but couldnt find him. After 5 days Romy came back in search of food. The lady bursted into tears after seeing his leg cut and the wound full of maggots. Once a healthy dog Romy is now all bones and only weighed 16kg. There were thousands of maggots in that wound.
Meerut is a place where there is no proper medical facility for animals. They do not even have any ABC unit which could help in sterilisation of stray dogs. They pick up the dogs and simply relocate them to a dumping yard.
As Romy became serious I got him picked from Meerut to Noida, where we started his treatment at Samvedana Trust. Romy was in a comatose state for about 28 hours. We lost our hopes.
But suddenly after those 28 hours Romy licked the hand of our vet We tried to feed him and to our surprise, he had some food. We got our hopes back and got his treatement started. We got his blood tests done. His blood was full of infections, platelets were low, RBC count was low. Romy was severely anaemic. Our priority was to heal his wound in order to decrease the blood levels. He had problem in breathing due to congestion in his chest.
Romy took 40 days to become a bit active but the bone of his wound was visible and we had no other option to get it amputed to bring down the infection level. Hence, we got it amputed. Romy is recovering from the amputation and on supplements to increase his RBC and platelets.
Romy is in a medical boarding which charge me Rs. 150 per day which excludes the expenses of his treatment, medicines and tests.
Please spare at least 500 rupees from your daily expenses and donate it for this voiceless soul. That Rs. 500 will not be much for you but for Romy that will be alot. After all Romy is facing all these troubles because of the humans.
