We Abhijeet and Madhura Deshpande would like to put forth our case of fund raising for the treatment of our premature newborn Twin babies.
We are married for last 2 years now and are based out of Pune. Madhura has been pregnant with the twin babies and expected date of delivery was first week of January 2022. It was identified by the
gynecologist that there are good chances of the premature delivery could happen around end of 8 months. However, Madhura ran into labor pain during 26' week of her pregnancy. Her treating doctor
advised us to do C section and transfer the babies to NICU for further treatment.
Both babies were born on 28 OCT 2021 and immediately transferred to LMMF's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune. As per NICU treating doctor Mrs. Shilpa Kalane, babies were admitted with remarks
as extreme preterm with respiratory distress. Twin 1 was having birth weight of 930 gms, and Twin 2 was of 630 gms when admitted. Both babies were on life support system for almost a week. Twin 2 was
suspected to have early stages of brain hemorrhage. Initial 15 days were considered as very critical and could incur huge expenses.
We as family were able to bear the initial expense quoted by hospital. After 15 days of treatment, babies are stable but still need to be under treatment in NICU for next 45 days minimum. The fixed cost of
treatment per baby per day is around 15,000/-, which is coming around 13 Lacs odd amount for rest of the period.
